I was really busy this morning but now its slowed down...... Boring! Whats your sewing project? I haven't done that in forever! I enjoyed it when I did....

I'm a historical costuming geek...right now I'm making a Victorian costume for the tea party at my church this weekend. No...it's not Victorian themed...but it's a Mad Hatter Tea Party, with all sorts of hats competitions...and nothing says "Big, obnoxious hat" quite like Victorian clothing. :)

That sounds like alot of fun :D Victorian is a great era! Well Levi went paintballing this weekend and got pegged right in the forehead so now he has a huge black and blue lump there  I'm like "you pay for that abuse?!" I should post the pictures here.

It's a lot of fun. I'll post pictures once I have it done. :) lol...you should definitely post pictures!

Yeah I'd love to see it! I had thought about sewing some of my twins summer clothes but not sure how much I'd actually get done and they looked at me and rolled their eyes when I mentioned it...Lol

hehehe...my kids are just going to have to get used to it! I do historical recreation in my free time...which means lots of sewing. When I was little my mom made me all of these little pinafores that she smocked with cute little scenes. I told her that she'd have to get back into the habit of doing them for my kids. :)

My mom did my clothes when I was little and some for my kids too but they reach that age and don't appreciate it anymore..... Historical recreation sounds very interesting... How did you get involved in that?

I got involved because I love costuming and I had gotten bored and starting making medieval costumes and I wanted to wear them somewhere...I had a teacher that was involved in the SCA, which is one of the biggest historical recreation societies in the world. Go to the SCA website and it has lots of information...it's an international group and I think this is your local group. If you want to get involved, just email...well, pretty much anyone listed on the website and they'll help you out. Around here there are lots of kids activities going on all the time...so your kids would probably enjoy it, too. :)

...I was the recruitment officer in my area for two years so I got really used to getting all of this information in a matter of minutes for people. :)

Not yet, mostly because at the moment the plans change from one day to the next - it might be better to talk when we both have a more concrete idea of what to do! One week we can't find anywhere and we're going to need to cut down on the number of guests, the next someone has offered us their garden and we can have as many people as we'd like. We still don't even have a firm date, yet, so that's also complicating the planning somewhat. That, and I've been worrying about Packet 3 and vaccinations these past few days.

Aww using the garden and having just a bbq or something would be wonderful! Do they have a nice huge lush garden? I can direct you to loads of ideas when you are ready for them hahaha....it is VERY overwhelming but I found once you pick a theme of sorts it helps!!!

True, you'd better focus on packet 3 and the next steps for immigration.

Doing it in a garden sounds very appealing to me! We thought we'd do it in Bryan's friends' backyard but we're not sure about that anymore. the house is always quite messy and there are so many animals there that we doubt it's going to be clean someday! I'd like an outside wedding.

Though if you get married around Christmas (if that's still what you planned), maybe being inside would be better? even though the winter in California isn't as bad as Wisconsin or Illinois winters, it's probably going to be quite cold, isn't it?

Sunny, I noticed that someone whose dates are just like yours (I-129F sent 01-17 and NOA1 01-22) was approved last week. You were probably in the same cardboard. That's a very good sign!

I can relate to 'plan changes from one day to the next...

last month Ricky and I already agreed not to have best man, maid of honor and all that fuzz. We agreed that it will be a very intimate wedding with just me and him and our 3 kids plus his mom and sister and family of his sister..... today, he was talking about getting the measurement of his daughter's bf for the barong (a filipino formal wear for men) and he will be sending it to me so i could go ahead and have it done here.. I was like: "wait, i thought we wouldn't be having all those fuss?"

I just want to have an outdoor wedding with a bbq reception and just a licensed Christian minister to perform the ceremony and that's it... now I don't know what he will pop up again next time we talk... I told him we should set the budget and then plan around it and stick with it NOT plan ahead and then have the budget later.

sunny, hope you could share ideas for a wedding by the lake (it is actually a park)... but first, I hope you will get that NOA2 soonest. I'm rooting for you!!!!

rachel, I am with you.. when the medical and interview seems so close, it will be hard to think of other things... especially big things such as wedding.

Sticking to a budget is good! I can fully understand your concerns...fuss isn't me, either! Good luck sorting everything out; I hope it doesn't cause too much stress. :)

sunny - I have NO idea what it is like! But I shall let you know when I do know. ;)

Cecile - if it is anything like last December, it will be chilly but bearable outdoors in California if people wear jackets/long sleeves. The temperatures can drop quite sharply after the sun sets, but while the sun is out it is not too cold. It doesn't really rain in December, but later, in January/February, so hopefully it will be sunny. :) And it won't be as brown or desolate as England gets; this is the park near Alex's house last Christmas:
