To all my fellow K-1 Visajourners,

We filed for K-1 on Feb 15, 2008 and have not received any notification as of yet. We realized that it can take 20-40 days for the NOA1 but we noticed recently that a number of K-1 Visajourners (as in sojourners LOL) have gotten NOA1 a week after filing and NOA2 two to three weeks thereafter.

I wonder if there were any changes in Vermont Center with regards to processing and staffing that speeding things up? How about the US Embassy in Manila? Is it true that we may have to wait 4 to 6 months just to get an an appointment after the NOA2? Perhaps Veteran Pro Filers and Gurus alike can shed some light into this . Also it would be very beneficial for us including to ALL recent filers, if you can guesstimate our timelines and what to expect. I know this may be difficult to predict, I guess this is to lessen the uncertainty and the fear of the unknown!

I know most of us share the common experience in the agony of waiting and precisely wanted to share some known quotes that I hope will help alleviate the agony of waiting and to inspire all K-1 Visajourners to keep on going until that moment in time where we can join as couple and live happily ever after....

“The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.”

“All human wisdom is summed up in two words - wait and hope”

“The secret of patience is doing something else in the meanwhile”

“The secret of patience is doing something else in the meanwhile”

“Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow - that is patience.”

Good luck to all of us!

Thanking you in advance, may the greatest architect of the universe be with you always!

With kindest regards

Congrats on getting your filing in! There is a February filers thread, you should join us over there. As for filing, I do think it's kind of odd that you haven't yet received your NOA1, but it hasn't been long enough to worry about it, yet. Check out the timelines function to get an idea of where you fall in the scheme of things.

For the appointment after the NOA2, it depends on your embassy. Again, use the timeline function to search for people who have filed at your embassy to get an idea of how long that can take. I know that it goes to the NVC before it goes to the embassy and that can take several weeks, then you have to wait for the embassy to get you in.

From my experience the people who filed in January and already have NOA2s are an extraordinary exception. There are a lot of people who filed at the end of last year who still haven't received NOA2s.

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.

i also havent gotten a letter yet, but the cashed check has the file number on the back. using that on the uscis website, you can find if they allready made some comments on your case. it just goes faster than waiting for the letter in the mail (even though it doesnt really matter in the end, but at least you know then)

wishing you a lot of goodluck

you should have recieved your NOA1...

I don't know where you heard people getting thier NOA2 in 2-3 weeks.. that is just not right. People are waiting 4-6 months for thier NOA2s. Yes you will probably have to wait 6 months minimum for the entire process to unveil itself. That is for the NOA2, and then the application being sent to the NVC and then to the embassy. Then the fiance has to complete paperwork, medical, and interview.

VSC has sped up recently (since January)... The USCIS has hired new adjuncators since the fiasco of last summer when the service was overwhelmed with apps.

Check out the guides and timelines offered here

Some people from VSC have received it in 60 days give or take. And there were a few NOA2s received in a matter of weeks, but they were for Cuban beneficiaries, so they get expedited approvals.

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.

If you via mail service where it had to be signed or you had a tracking number, you will know if it has been received, which is good. If it has, then you will probably see your check cashed before you receive anything in the mail, hard to say. I would call and see what they say about it.

It's too hard to say when you will receive NOA1 and even harder to predict NOA2. The differences are so widespread between filers who filed at the same time.

We filed Jan 12 to Vermont, approved in 46 days. But there are people who filed in Vermont in September (maybe earlier) and are still waiting with no RFE's and no NOA2. Who the hell knows how they do things over there. Unfortunately, I think it's all luck. I'm sure we all (or most) fill out the forms and follow the directions to a tee, so there's no logical reason why some are approved in a month while others in 6.

All we can do is fill out the forms correctly, send them in and hope you get lucky.

If you check out the January jackpot thread it seems VSC has just gone beserk and are pumping out approvals... Near half of January filers have been approved already... so as a February filer like me you can start to get excited...

There was a filer from Jan 25 who recieved thier NOA1 on Feb 5 and they got thier NOA2 already.... The early Feb filers boxes are open

UPDATE:

We got an email today (Mar 11, 2008) from USCIS stating that our K-1 visa has been approved (Mar 10, 2008). This is awasome, yeheeeey... Cha and I just wanted our happiness... Our K-1 Visa was approved in 24 days from the date of our filing (Feb 15, 2008).

THANK YOU to Vermont Service Center for processing our application so expeditiously. Keep it up, I'm sure a lot of couples in our situation will be thrilled to hear the prompt processing of k-1 visas..

A most special thanks to VJ, special kudos to Sheriff Uling, Captain Ewok and Lisa D for providing a very good source of information to help us in this journey. For guidance and support, we also wish to thank and to send our best wishes to jeff and mayeth, aravis227, marash, grandoner, greeneyedgirlfl, chuck n rose, kid brooklyn and elai. For those who are still waiting, keep the faith, your time will soon come.

Now for the next step? NVC and Consulate matters - Anyone, please provide, special things to watch out for....
