We feel like we are on this big roller coaster ride. Anyway, I get all excited last month when we find out

the interview date. Then, we get excited after the interview goes well. Then, you are told that you will have the visa

in 2 to 3 weeks. Well, now it is coming on the end of the third week and I was reading about all the security

name checks that can drag on and on and on with Mantis, Condor and NCIC.

I am sure that Arabic as well as Latino immigrants have too many common names and there are probably tons

of false hits. I am wondering if the immigrants with rare names don't go into the NCIC system and have shorter

AP times.

We are getting kind of bummed now..........as things drag on.

So not to put a damper on anyone's enthusiasm at interviews at the Cairo Embassy, but be warned that 2 to 3 weeks

does not necessarily mean 2 to 3 weeks, especially it seems if your spouse ends up in the NCIC system. :crying:

Wow, sounds like bad experiences in the embassy in Cairo are typical. I hear so much of this and experienced it myself. I know others that haven't though.

Lynne,

May I ask how you found out that your fiancee was in some system? I really hope that the visa comes soon and I feel that they shouldn't give people false hope if there are more checks to do...just be honest, we can take it instead of getting our hopes up!

Inshallah Lynn all will go well. Many have gotten their visa in hte time promised and some even before.

Our deadline is not up until Monday.....Maybe a miracle can still happen. LOL!! Wait we are talking about Cairo here are'nt we?

I emailed the embassy a few days ago and was responded today with an email that says they are not allowed to discuss the AP process with nonconsular staff. I was not a happy camper.......it is after all my case. I have a right to know he details.

Anyway, I called DOS and got a really nice lady but I do not remember her stating her name or maybe I was too mad to pay attention. I told her the circumstances and the reply I got from the embassy and she looked at our case and said I had cleared the checks but Ahmed has not finished clearing them yet.

So maybe by some miracle he will clear them all by Monday.

However, I did not find this out until after I had already responded to the embassy email. Hmmmmmmmmmm I probably made them mad.

Oh well, will just have to wait it out. I am not happy about it but it is out of our hands right now. But as of today it will be in my Senator's hands. LOOOOOOOOOOL. That is basically what I told Cairo in my emaiil. SO yes they are probably mad.

Anyway, keep your prayers coming.

Check out this:

http://www.usaimmigrationattorney.com/Secu...tiveReview.html

It helps explain everything and I realize it really is out of everyone's control.

Egypt is one of these "27 countries" that gets name checks.............most are in the Middle East.

There are 7 other ones, Syria, Libya, etc that are required to get Mantis, Condor and NCIC name

clearances.

Since 9/11 and the Patriot Act, these things are done to protect America and once the NCIC (CLASS)

gets the name, it can be 90 days and it can disappear with the FBI. And manual handchecks can take months........if their are multiple hits. Making it worse are Latino and Arabic names, where there

are sooooooooooooooo many similar names. I read where you can call the FBI and let them do a name check to see how many hits your SO gets. If he gets many FALSE hits, then you can be

in AP for a while.

You can read all about it on the net. Just look up each of those searches and you can read

tons about it. Once I read that, I feel safer and a little more patient and I did read that getting

mad, can make them deny your visa. And suing the government, will make them deny the visa for sure before 120 days have passed. So be patient for 4 months at least, and then you can

start getting mad, but it really is being engaged to someone in those special countries AND having

a common name. TWo stricks against us...............don't have to worry about either of those things

if you have an English or German name and aren't in one of those countries. You can see the problem????

Can't spell either this am,

there and strikes...........please overlook my boo-boos

If you love me, then I have everything I need

I am not mad they are doing name checks and security checks.....what I am mad at is they tell me they cannot dicuss our case with me.

How hard would it be for them to just say we have not finished the name checks and security clearance on your fiancee yet?

That is exactly what the nice lady at DOS told me when I spoke with her. She said I have passed all clearances but Ahmed has not been completed as of yet.

All I am asking is that they keep us informed instead of acting so greater than thou and giving us the no answer answers. Then telling me they cannot discuss the case with me when there would be no case if I had not filed the petition.

Anyway, all i can do is wait......I have no choice. But I am still faxing the privacy release form to my Senator so if in a couple of weeks if we still have no visa I can have them inquire about it since the embassy has to answer them within 4 days of the inquiry with a real answer.

WOW!! Talk about fast.....I faxed the form to the Senator's office and told him all the details and said I am sending you this form so you will have it in the event that we still have not received a visa in a few weeks you already have permission to inquire about our case if needed.

Now I faxed this form at 6pm on THURSDAY NIGHT Saturday I received a letter from the Senator that he has inquired about my case with the Embasy in Cairo and will notify me of the response he receives.

Now his office is really on top of things. When I first sent them an email about our case was when we were waiting for an interview to be scheduled.....about 6 days after my email to them I received a call from his secretary on my cell phone wanting to know how they can help me. I explained we had already received an interview date since my email to them so I did not need assistance at this time. She insisted she mail me the release form giving them permission to inquire about my case just in case I need them later......they will only be a fax away.......so in few days I received the form.

Now this....I fax on Thursday....they inquire on Friday(even though I know Embassy is closed).....I receive notification of thier inquiry by Saturday. I am really impressed for a government office to be so quick in response.

Think I will vote for him again.....hehehehe

I also received a DHL notification today......the visa is not on its way yet but they touched it within the Embassy again so maybe they are about to.

I received the first email notification I signed up for on Feb 19th (8 days after our interview) I got really excited until I emailed DHL and they said everytime it moves within the embassy it is scanned.....so unless dhl site changes it has not left embassy yet. So my rationale is......... that is when our package was sent for the security, name and background checks. So maybe now since it moved again within the embassy they are finished and it is on it's way for the visa stamp.....I sure hope so.

Anyway.....say some prayers for us and we will keep you informed.

God Bless you all each and everyone!!

How do you find out when it is touched at the Embassy? DHL still says it is heading to Desuq.
