If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Yeah....I have thought about if I was born Egyptian that I would rather live inEgypt. I know they have many problems but they also have many good things about their culture that I do not see much here...friendship, family, culture, friendliness, kindness, less selfishness...but being american and non-muslim I do not feel safe there ...just hypothetically would rather be there if I were born in that area and fit there

Yes I have thought it almost on a daily basis.

I do know of a girl who met a guy on the net from Morocco. Met him in person went back to the states. Longed to be with him so bad that she sold everything, moved to Morocco and has been there since Aug of last year.

So I guess it can be done.

Ya, I though about the same points. Its not that I dont feel safe, but I am just not ready to "start over". Im 29, and I think Ive accomplished so much in my short career and in life.. It would be like starting over at 20.. small apt, just getting by, not having all the "creature comforts". Yes- this is shallow, I guess.

We have "dreamt" of someday buying a house there, so we can go back and have lengthy stays whenever we wanted. ahhhh that all sounds so nice :)

Just had an arguement with mine. I would love to go there, just to slap his brains out and put it back in to see if it'll start functioning properly again. Sorry it's just one of those days.

And to get back to the subject... yes I've thought of that many times myself. If I had my way, I'd be living there already.

Hugs,

I tried editing my reply but I dunno if it worked...i lived with him there for almost a year and it was the most exciting time in our life....compared to that our life now is so boring....but thats how i described it to him that it will be boring and safe with a lot of rules...he is doing okay here with adapting but every now and then he breaks down and i feel guilty that he has to deal with life here becasue of me...he is not the type of person that is interested that much in america and always asks if we can retire back to egypt...but then I reminded him of our future kids....lol...I really onyl hope that one day he can be truly happy here and not have that same feling i felt when i lived in egypt---but permanently instead of temporary...

Oh ya, believe me, my husband and I have discussed me moving to Egypt if we don't hear something soon. I keep telling him that we have waited this long we can wait a bit more. I am with you on the career thing also. I've worked so hard to get where i am today. Maybe it is selfish, I don't know, but as for now I am hoping for a visa soon. If our case is denied then i will rethink things then.

Our timeline:

September 29, 2005.......met online.

October and November 2006......was in Egypt with my sweetie.

November 1, 2006......We were married.

December 2006........I-130 filed

January 2007...........I-129 filed

April 2007................I-130 and I-129 approved

June 14, 2007.........Visa interview completed

December 2, 2007.....Home interview

February 12, 2008........Second interview

February 26, 2008....I was called by the embassy and was given a short interview over the phone and was told that my case will be moved forward and someone would contact my husband soon to send in his passport.

March 2, 2008......My husband was contacted by the embassy to send in his passport.

March 3, 2008......Passport sent by DHL.

March 4, 2008......Embassy received the passport.

March 18, 2008......VISA IN HAND!!! YEAH!!

Not sure if you mean permanently, and forgetting about the visa & USA ??? or temporarily ???

Yes... and I did it... it's conflicting for me because it was the best, yet the most stressful, decision I ever made in my life...would I do it again ? no !! but, I wouldn't give up the things that I have gained here. I don't think I would have had the acceptance of his family had I not lived among them for an extended time... I think they might have resented me for taking him to America if they didn't get to know me first...plus, now I think that they feel more confident that he will be okay in America after experiencing my personality...

I did it, but it was HARD!!!!!!!!!! I did the stupidest things which were buy a one way ticket, come with virtually no money, and I promised to stick it out until the visa came... dumb, dumb, and kind of blind ignorance...

I think if you and your son want to join your husband, there is a lot of great things to be learned in his country ! But, speaking from personal experience, I would keep a return ticket, the money to get back if you needed it, money for emergencies, and a backup plan between you and your husband that wouldn't make him feel like you'd be bailing on him by leaving.... although, my feelings are based on the Egyptian embassy, which seems to be just about the slowest MENA country, maybe your stay would only be 5 or 6 months at the most....

Just my opinion... (F)

Alright, now - I'll visit Jordan and all ... and maybe, I think I could stay in Amman for a month ... BUT

LIKE HELL I'M LIVING THERE! YOU NUTS?!

*ahem*

That's how I feel at least. :)

[ It's not a job thing or anything - it's just ... man ... with King Nothing running things over there ... and the possibility of me landing in a cell for saying that - well, go figure. ]

Plus, I didn't really like the concept of a .30 cal machine gun pointed at my face at checkpoints.

I'd have to say that even if I didn't have my children, I wouldn't have moved to Egypt instead of waiting on the visa. I wouldn't move there unless we are financially secure...truly financially secure. Nothing kills romance like poverty and poverty would've been exactly what we would've been looking at if I'd have moved there. Or at least *my* idea of poverty. I really enjoy the comforts of home. I would not have been happy or satisfied giving them up.

NO Way...I love my life here, and so many people fought hard for the rights I have now. I don't want to leave the USA....that being said.......if I had to do it, I could live in Jordan, but it would take me some time and some work to adjust to life there. Not to mention lots of help from his family. I was there for about 8 weeks this past summer, I loved it there and it was so hard for me to leave him, but I was very homesick and it was a huge relief to get back in my own norm.
