Changing address

Hi, just a quick question this time. I am considering moving abroad to be with my spouse for a while. During that time, I will move out of my place and put my stuff in storage. Ideally, I would use my mother's address for future mailings, as we would be staying with her when my husband finally gets here (my car will be stored there).

On to the quick question: I live in California, just received my NOA1 from CSC. My mother lives in Oklahoma, which is of course served by *VSC*. Does anyone know whether my service center will change if I "move" to Oklahoma or will my case just proceed where it began, since the number is already generated?

I can only IMAGINE the delays this would incur if the service center changes! If that is the case, I will have to find a friend to be my address, I just trust my mother more...

I didn't see this question posted anywhere else. I did check first. Thanks to anyone who has any insight,

/bb

It will proceed at the center that has it now, however moving has been reported to get important documents like I-130 NOA2 letter lost in the mail.

It is recommended to call USCIS to get address change on both I-129F and I-130 petitions, then call them a few days later to confirm the address change.

Your profile says CR-1, yet your timeline and where you posted this indicates K-3. If CR-1 you will want to establish US Domicile at your parent's home before leaving the country, get your driver's license changed, open a bank account at your new address and keep it active. US domicile is a requirement of the I-864 affidavit of support used by the CR-1 visa. K-3 is less restrictive because it used I-134 for the visa, and I-134 has no domicile requirement.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

my husband got the confirmation of our change of address from USCIS last monday. he didn't move out of california, he just moved to a place near his workplace but when he called USCIS a week before he got the notice, he was told that our I-130 is currently being process in VSC not CSC. kinda weird. anyhow, this doesn't answer your question but given your planned move, suggest you call USCIS first before you file a change of address request.

Thanks for the info - I didn't know about *that* difference between I-134 and I-864!

My status: I am caught in the "what to do, what to do" category. I originally had thought K-3, then based on all the confusion about whether it's worth it - or even available - any more, by default (that I haven't sent the I-129 yet) am in in the CR-1 category...

More things to think about. Thanks again,
