Hi everyone,

I have a question to ask you guys. Me and my husband were married in Egypt, and we always wanted to have a outdoors wedding. So in Egypt, we legally married and then made a promise to each other beside the sea. We also had a wedding party in his family's house, but no vows, etc. The problem is that it really did not satisfy us because none of my family was there and we did not say our vows in front of them. We wanted to have a wedding of our dreams(which isnt that costly) when we got settled here. Now we have been married 2 years almost so we are thinking of having a wedding on our third anniversary if we are stable by then. I really wonder how people would feel about us having a wedding after they see us as a couple from 3 years so far? But, its something we really want for us..so I guess it is okay because we have never had an official wedding by the way we want. I am even thinking about how to say it in our invitations but I dont know what to say...I cant say renew because we never said the vows the first time...so how would I write the invitations...and what do you guys think

i appreciate your time and responses

I think your family and friends would understand your wanting a proper "wedding" or vow "renewal" since they weren't present for the first wedding. I would word it as a renewal of vows since even though you didn't have actual vows during the wedding, I'm sure you and your husband made certain vows or promises to each other prior to marriage.

Hmmm... i can totally appreciate this question. Because if Habibi ever gets his visa, inchallah, of course we would want to have a wedding here for my friends and family...inchallah. But it will take time, like you said, to get stable.

i think you should do however and whatever you like. It is your special day for you and Habibooka.

You could just send invitations out like for a regular wedding... it is your first US wedding after all.

Or you might include you and your husband's story along with your invitations... something brief, but romantic on pretty paper. Because what you are doing is truly wonderful and exciting.(F)(F)

Let us know what you decide!

I agree with Moody, since you are already married it would be a renewal of vows. I don't think anyone should have a problem with that.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

I totally agree with Moody and JP. Very well said!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Blessings sista,

I agree with all of the other members as well. I also got married in Egypt in November and my family was not able to make the trip with me so I had NO family there. When my Habibi comes to the U.S. we are going to have another ceremony for my friends and family. He actually suggested it.

As the other members have stated, it is You and your love's DAY so you can do whatever you choose, with no explanation really.

LOVE IS UNIVERSAL!
