Chicago AOS Interview

I apologize for the delay on this. After the interview I actually went into work and slogged through a few hours, then went home and went to sleep because apparently all that stress makes a girl tired. :whistle:

This will be the short form of what happened, and the longer post will come after the morning commute and settling in with morning tasks. Such patience has been appreciated, especially as I reflect back on what happened.

John's and my appointment was set for 9.15 am in downtown Chicago. We got there with plenty of time to spare, thanks to early planning on our part, and spent almost 90% of the two hours we were there sitting in chairs and trying to keep ourselves occupied. Rules we learned: bring a book or some other form of entertainment; dress in layers (light is good); and just try to relax. Which is exactly what seasoned VJers said all along, at least on the last point, so I applaud their wisdom! :luv:

After a long, long wait when it seemed like everyone who showed up after us got to go first, we were ushered in by our immigration official Lacey to his office. We walked out ten to fifteen minutes later -- at the very most, including time rummaging around for an elusive photocopy -- with my husband saying, 'You're allowed to dance around now!" and the official chuckling about "reserved" Canadians.

It was, as predicted by many, a complete anticlimax to all my preparing for the worst. Chicago's experience offered very little to complain about at all, and I still have my APs and EAD with a green card due to arrive in the mail. I'm probably still going to be nervous until it appears in my hot little hands and shows everything properly. (No head of a man on me, thanks!)

Congratulations. I was so nervous when I did not see a post from you yesterday evening. But I am sure you were on too much of a adrenaline high to worry about VJ.
