The processing time varies a great deal based on which service center she sent the petition to. Vermont is much faster right now although there are exceptions. You need to be aprpoved at the service center before the petition is sent to the National Visa Center and then off to the consulate.

You can learn more about the Embassy in Ukraine here.

Best of luck to you!

I hope you meant California or Vermont service center as your local office and not the one nearest Belle Vernon, PA because that was not correct... You have a long wait until it gets to Kyiv.... In the regional area of the website is a thread called the Kyiv Beat... This is a gathering place for all people dealing with the Kive consulate...

Hi there people,

Welcome Alex, good luck to you on your journey! There are several ways to get an idea on the length of time it will take between filing your application (k-1) with the service center and when the papers will reach the embassy in Kiev.

1) you'll need to go into "My Assistant" and edit your timeline screen. Once you do that you can then go to "view my timeline" in the Immigration Timelines section. This will project out, based on current averages, and processing center, what your estimated adjudication date is - the date when you might expect your application to be approved.

2) to understand the process after the application has been approved, I suggest you look at the K-1 flowchart in the Guides section. You can see estimates of the time spent at each step in the process after your application has been approved. You can also go into the K-1 historical trends by processing center in the immigration timelines section as well to see estimates of start to finish days for previous filers.

Believe me, you'll have plenty of time to figure all this out, waiting is a big part of this process, but it all starts with your completing your timeline information in the system. Good luck to you and your SO.

And So It Begins......
