:help:

Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I find it very confusing because many posts don't say if they are referring to the K-1 visa or the CR-1/IR-1. As I understand it, after I get case complete at NVC for my CR-1, Montreal will send me a checklist of documents that I must send back to them before I go on the wait list. Yes? Or is that for K-1? When my case leaves NVC do I go straight on the waiting list and just bring the rest of my documents to the embassy? Basically I'm wondering what things I should be getting together now, and what things I can wait to get until I know my interview date (i.e. medical). I don't want to fall any further behind by not having things ready.

Please, can anyone tell me what things I need to send to get on the interview wait list, and what things I just need to have when I got to the interview? Thank you so much in advance! (L)

Hi Toastburglar,

Yes, the checklist they are referring to is for K1. You do go straight to the waiting list after case complete at NVC. You shouldn't really have any other documents to submit, they do send you a list of all the documents you have sent to NVC and say to bring a copy of everything to the interview (but that is up to you - I think it is in case NVC lost some of the documents - my Husband didn't take copies) however, as you have probably read, you should bring:

- an updated I-864 if applicable (ie: change of income or employment since submitted to NVC - current bank statement if you are using assets - really you are supposed to have 12 months of bank statements if using assets, so if you didn't submit those to NVC might want to bring those as well) Some recent pay stubs wouldn't hurt either.

- 2007 tax return from the sponsor, if your interview is after April 15th (also a good idea to bring the other 2 years transcripts, 2004 and 2005, if you haven't already submitted them to NVC (or even if you did, if you have a copy).

- Some proof of your relationship - you probably won't need this, my Husband wasn't asked for any, however can't hurt to bring a couple of pictures, say a joint bank account statement and a bill that is in both your names.

- 2 U.S. passport size photos

- Your passport

- Your medical is good for a year, so you can do that when you want to.
