McCain disavows comments about Obama

Ok, so the consensus here is it's wrong to use the mans real name.

No - that's not the point at all. I'm not sure how many ways it can be explained to you.

Oh you have explained it. You can't call him by his name because of the connotation of it. I just think it's PC BS. It's his name and there isn't anything wrong in using it. You might as well get used to hearing it though. While McCain may not use his full name there will be a multitude of others that will.

There isn't anything wrong with using the man's name - if there isn't an agenda behind spelling it out.

If McCain's middle name was Adolf, and people started calling him John Adolf McCain in relation to his being a conservative Bush-crony - do you think that would be fair?

In that respect - John McCain's middle name is actually Sidney. So let me ask you - why aren't commentators calling him John Sidney McCain? Similarly why aren't they referring to Hillary as Hillary Diane Clinton?

If McCain's middle name was Adolf then I think it would be fair to use it. It would be his name after all. Look, I don't care what the mans middle name is. I know it makes no difference as to his views. To me this is an exercise in being PC and I hate it. It's not like people are saying Barak Saddam Hussein Obama, they are just saying his real and correct name.

I object. If McCain's middle name was Adolf, it would not have been fair to call him John Adolf McCain and Barack Obama (not mentioning his middle name) when talking about both. So it is same scenario when that guy repeatedly called Barack Hussein Obama, but never called McCain as John Sidney McCain. You may not agree, but the purpose of this tactic is to remind people "see Obama's middle name is Hussein, same as Saddam's last name" without saying it loud.

Its not wrong to use it. But you seem to be under the impression that Bill Cunningham is doing so honestly, and that there isn't a smear campaign against Obama painting him as some sort of Muslim agent.

What other commentators? I think we can stick with the fact that only this talk show host chose to act like a #######. I don't think anyone else in the media has taken it up and after this, it might never happen which might be an ill wind blowing no good situation. From what I saw, McCain apologised not only for the middle name thing but also the political hack blah blah blah too.

Which is messed up. However, I don't think all Catholics want a 9 year old's crotch in their hand. There can be a disconnect between pastor and attendees. That doesn't mean that Obama disagrees, but it doesn't mean that he agrees by any means.
