McCain is a pretty stand-up guy for disavowing this. I wish someone would stand-up on the left and critisize Pelosi and Reid for doing the same as the talk show host. Obama is silent about it cuz he is getting traction out of it. By the way isnt he the poster child for "bringing people together" More sunlight comin at you Obama fans.

I'm not sure that's the case at all. He didn't initiate this - but what are his choices? To ignore it, or to get mired down in a pointless debate about his name? All of which detracts from actual campaigning.

He could have came out with: I respect John McCain for his actions on this matter.

More like a good solid case for being a hypocrit!

Or maybe just a solid case of sarcastically taking your bait.

You totally understand what I meant. Just admit it. Sheesh.

I think he does himself a disservice lowering himself to deal with a petty smear from a Talk Radio commentator. Its simply irrelevant and distracts from the more important priority of campaigning.

The offending comments came from someone affiliated McCain's campaign, therefore it was McCain's responsibility to respond to, and distance himself from it. Surely that's all that needs to be said.

You said earlier that a mountain was being made out of a molehill here. Why should BO give this thing more attention than its worth? It just isn't worth it.

He wasnt affliated.

Sure he was. He was speaking at a campaign event wasn't he?

I mean... the guy wasn't there for his health

He introduced him at a campaign rally - he is a Conservative Radio guy (& Republican). That does not mean he is affiliated! It says in the article has hasn't met McCain before!

We can quibble about the semantics of what "affiliated" means - in both formal and informal context, but the fact is that guy wasn't someone who just showed up and grabbed a mike. He was invited.

He was invited by the event coordinator not McCain. But of course the tieing of McCain to him was what was emphasized.

Cunningham told CNN that organizers in Cincinnati asked him to speak.

"They told me to fire up the crowd ... get them fired up and give them some red meat," he said.

Local campaign workers confirmed Cunningham's account.

Red meat? Nice backpedalling McCain...

Sure but its McCain's campaign - whatever his underlings do has some reflection on him. So he has a responsibility to address things carried out on his behalf by his campaign workers - especially if they affect his public image.

You mean like Hillary taking responsibility when her underlings circulate pictures of Obama in Muslim clothes?

I don't know what you whistle for - I don't support her ;)

Besides - a lot of things get leaked under the radar. You can't really deny something that was said openly, at your own campaign event.

While I don't support her, just to be fair, Hillary's campaign has seen a couple campaign workers canned because they had engaged in activities that reflected poorly on the candidate and her campaign.

Yeah, they take a worker and have him spread something damaging to Obama. Then they have him fall on his sword. It's all very convenent.
