So I received a letter from the vermont service center last week, saying that our petition was approved blah blah and was sent to the listed consulate. I was a bit confused by this because I thought it was supposed to go to the NVC center. Then I got another letter the next day from the NVC saying that they had forwarded the petition to "the appropriate visa-issuing post" where the interview will take place. They listed the consulate where they sent it ....Montreal but thats not the one we listed. Just wondering why they would send it there?

Anyways, im really confused here, am I supposed to receive some documents or something for NVC? I thought they sent the same letters to everyone, but apparently they are tailored made, because I've noticed that some people have commented that their letters say different things. Can anyone clarify ?> lol

The letter is misleading. All petitions go through NVC before going out to the consulate. I'm not sure if different peoples' letters say different things, but they all go through NVC. Hope that helps!

Oops, and forgot to answer your consulate question: The consulate where it's being sent is the consulate you or your fiance(e) will interview at. The consulate is chosen based on who has jurisdiction over your fiance's permenant residence, in this case Montreal. They don't go by the consulate you listed.

Is there the section IV at the consulate you listed?

It's not at every consulate, that's why they could send your petition to another consulate.

In Canada, both Montreal and Vancouver are able to process K visas. However, you will be assigned to either one depending on where you live.

yeah, thats what i thought. He lives in Vancouver. It would be rather ridiculous if he has to go half way across the country just for the interview, if Vancouver could do it.

He can request his case to be transfered to Vancouver -- it usually is pretty easy if he lives there.

If he lives in Vancouver, his interview at the Consulate will be in Vancouver...at least for a K-1. If by chance you get your notice from NVC saying it went to Montreal, then you'd best email Montreal (with your case number) IMMEDIATELY, so it can be transferred to Vancouver. Vancouver wait times are usually about a month after you've sent back package 3, while Montreal is a LONG time...maybe 8 months or so. Keep on top of this, and best of luck in a speedy approval!
