It's not about strength though. What women lack in strength, they make up for in extraordinary sneakiness.

Yes, I could tell you some stories about that. Heres one. She got a boyfriend, had him for 2 years without the husband knowing. She ran up credit cards so the husband decided to borrow on the house to pay them and her car off. a week later she gets a restraining order to have him put out and is still seeing boyfriend. she files for a divorce and loans the boyfriend $800. The boyfriend disapeared and changedphone #. The house had been paid for with no mortgage by the husband. She got half the profits from the house that the children loved. She blew that money ,120,000. She now after only a short time begs the X husband to go back with her because she see's how difficult things are gonna be. He was so good to her before, now she cant understand why he doesnt run to her to help her. I am not going to say who the man was in this story but maybe some of these smart ladies can figure it out.

That's not sneaky, that's stupid.

Yes stupid but how much lieing and deceit did that take?

I didnt go there looking for better. It was an accident, but after talking for a long time I saw that she was raised to respect a husbands place in the marriage, like my mother was raised ( you know before everyone got divorces) but she also mentioned she needed respect also. Mutual respect, I like that. Now, does that sound so bad of me? HELLO!!!!!!!

You got to admit that posts like this make it sound like you're living in some kind of reactionary fantasyland.

Damn women's libbers!!!

You have hairy armpits.

and wear birkenstocks

Did women's libbers make it possible that divorce only involved 1 person or 2? I'm trying to get my head around this one.

Well pull it out of your ###. :D

My head's not in my a$$, my friend. Fortunately, if something were to happen to my husband tomorrow (god forbid) I wouldn't have to hitch my star to some embittered and divorced middle aged doofus in order to pay the bills. Thank you women libbers!

My first wife found another man and they together were heavy into drugs. She went to Julia Tutwiler State prison for 9 months. I dont want to be married to an X Felon.

There seems to be the assumption made that because we are rallying against inequality that we do not want traditional marriages.

My parents have an extremely traditional marriage. My mother stayed at home to raise the children, cook and clean while my dad pays all of the bills and makes most of the big decisions. I think it is great, and as I have said before, I would probably be quite content in a similar arrangement. However, my dad has true respect for my mother - he does not say 'I am making this decision because you are a female', he would say, 'I am making this decision because I've sat down and researched it and I know that you don't like making this kind of decision'. If my mother does wish to give her input (they chose a house together, for example) then he will listen to that.

If I showed my mother this thread, though, I am positive she would come to same conclusion as me. What works for my parents will not necessarily work for other people. Just as there is nothing wrong with my parents' relationship there is nothing wrong with other kinds of relationships. As long as there is proper mutual respect between the partners and that each truly agrees to their role in the relationship I see no problem with the relationship. However, it does not mean that other people's relationships are wrong.

So the lesson here is: "Divorce, not always a bad thing"

...except when it happens to other people :P

So aren't you glad you got a divorce?
Yes, I cant believe I was there for 29 years.

Your divorce counts as one of the 60% you just tsk-tsked at and said was always wrong.
