I won't have much free time due to working, but wanted to get some ideas for her visit (2 weeks~) to

get her more exposed to living here in the not too distant future.

Some suggestions I've come up with from reading the Canada forum (some humourous, some literal):

- Take her to Target

- Take her to Cold Stone

- Pay $6.50 for matinee, rather than $10+

- See a spring training baseball game

- Check out the outlet malls (Orlando has two popular ones)

- Any other ideas?

Personnally, all my visits to my love were not meant to get more in touch with the life in the US.... ;)

I figured I would have enough time once I'm moved and home for 8 months, and believe me I did :P

So why don't you take the time to enjoy each other as much as you can, because you will regret all the time wasted on silly things when you are apart again

I couldn't agree more with my dear friend Mephys.

Just spend time with her.

When I go and visit Nick I really could care less about going to another restaurant or what not. I just want to be with him.

I'd be happy just staying in bed the whole time!!! ;)

I wouldn't worry too much, us Canadian girls are very easy to please ;)

Dude :)

- sleep till noon, veg in your jammies (or not  ) and watch movies on the couch

However...that said....my husband made sure he pointed out major points of interest while we were driving around. We hit the grocery stores, the local library, showed me the highschool where my daughter would attend. I think he made an effort to take the same routes so that I could become accustomed directionally speaking :) Do daily regular stuff, it makes things more homey.

Are you living where you will eventually live together? Start buying some furniture or curtains and let her make it her space as well. Make adjustments and talk about how you stuff will go together...'hey, your armoire will look great here...yada yada...'

The first time I stepped into our now home, I was overwhelmed. I'd just driven 9+ hrs , was hungry and my husband was so excited for me to like it that the pressure got to me and I started bawling uncontrollably. It just hit me that I would one day be living here, and it didn't look at all like MY home :( I got over it in about 15 mins, but like I said...I was surprised and overwhelmed that I would react that way)! And we'd been dating for a while at that point. I visited many times, as did he...almost monthly, so by the time we actually moved in, we had a lot of things down and I was more familiar with the area.

Good luck!

Maybe I asked my question wrong, but regardless, thats all great advice that we always follow when we are together.

I'm just trying to ease the process when it comes so its not such an abrupt thing together. And no, I most likely won't

be in this apartment when she moves, so we can't really decide on decorating till later on. Right now I'm just thinking

of showing her the points of interest one afternoon, kind of what I did when I first moved to Orlando. Basically, I just

want her to feel comfortable so that everything isn't so "foreign" to her and she has a basic lay of the land.

You've got the right idea then. hey - maybe you can even visit some areas where you might move or check out an apartment or 2? Nothing says you can't window shop :)

Spend time together of course!

But for me, when I went to visit my Fiance in FL, I enjoyed when we went to Winter Park (since I noticed you're in Orlando) and ate there. Walked a bit in the park and whispered sweet nothings in each other's ears. =)

Park Ave. in Winter Park is certainly a good idea...lots of cafes and window shopping. Good call!

Furniture shopping and apartment hunting aren't bad ideas either, helps ease the burden when I can look for the two of us

while she's back home. Also, we have a pretty good idea of each other's tastes, but shopping together never hurts :)

Mall at Millenia I'm all too familiar with...she's a shopaholic. Certainly wouldn't hurt to check out Ikea since they seem to be the best thing since sliced bread to people ;)

Oh, then she'll love the mall. I'm not an outlet mall person myself. I cannot see the appeal in them. Ikea has great stuff at really low prices. In Canada you can get breakfast there for a dollar. Not sure if they do that here, though. But I have eaten there just before closing and they pile the food on your plate to get rid of it... plus it's really tasty and a great price. Again... I've only eaten there in Canada. No idea what it's like here. And if the red light is on at the Krispy Kreme, I can't resist. Nothing better than a fresh hot donut. Yum.

We do the same!

I don't know Orlando at all, but maybe driving around some neighbourhoods where you might live would be a good idea. We've done that and it helps me get an idea of what our life might be like once I'm there.

Other than that, I love just staying in, cooking a nice dinner together and spending a much time as possible cuddling!
