Deserve a clown? That's just about the most stupid thing I have ever heard of. How can anyone honestly believe in the 'just deserts' syndrome? Everyone should be rooting for the best president, the best goverment and the best outcome no matter what their political spots are. To wish for some 'come uppance' scenario is just foolish.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Weird too - because wouldn't you also be wishing the comeuppence on yourself?

No Mr Troll, I don't have a magic answer...

I wasn't looking for a 'magic answer' (elections aren't magic).

I was hoping you would suggest an alternative. Seeing how you dislike the current system, I assumed you had something in mind in terms of a superior alternative.

My mistake.

;)

They have a novelty pair; a woman, and and quasi black man, and neither have much quantifiable experience at all.

I hope nobody ever calls your children quasi.

Bored Mr Pants?

Getting ever closer to that most exciting of events though, I can imagine your time will be totally fixed elsewhere in a week or two :D

This whole thing has me guessing. On the one hand this poll seems totally logical to me. I've just never been able to believe that many Republicans would vote for either Hillary or Obama, certainly not the real consevatives. It's just not logical. However I can definitely see middle of the road democrats switching to McCain.

A lot of people think that if Hillary steals the nomination the democrats will revolt and maybe McCain looks even more attractive, but I go back to 1992. I remember being in amazement thinking the Democrats were -and I quote myself "just dumb enough to nominate Clinton" because he seemed to have so much baggage. But after winning the primaries he went on a brilliant home stretch campaign that convinced most Americans to forget about all of that. I think Hillary could do the same thing. Voters would be sore for a couple weeks, but she would remind them who the real enemy is- Bush, who coincidentally isn't running. I think voters have short memories and are in fact gullable enough to believe that they are voting against Bush when they vote against McCain. And the only way Obama wins flat out is if the Republicans just stay home in protest. Could happen. So I really cannot guess.

I know Luz was asking why it takes so long to get to the elections. I didn't really have an answer other than "thats the way we do it". It does seem to get longer each election season though. I think we see it as a spectator sport. I know I do.

We do it to give the news channels something close to real news to talk about. Its about ratings and advertisement dollars. If it wasn't for this we'd be hearing a lot more about Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan, so be thankful. Although Obama in a robe is stretching it a bit.

VP choice has some say in it as well, I think. I am very curious to see who it will be!

Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton. They'd be silly not to do that. Magic Johnson called it his "dream ticket", and if you think they've bickered too much-- no way. It was Bush who called Reaganomics "Voodoo Economics" and that was considered a nasty primary in the 80s. In the end they came together and Bush became Pres eventually anyway. I'm telling you, people have short memories.

I highly doubt she would be his VP. She hates him too much & has too much pride.

PS: I meant McCain's choice as well.
