If anyone can answer my questions i am going crazy. I am an american citizen and my fiance is from Switzerland and we are wanting to get married this summer. When ever i ask if once we are married is he a citizen or is there some papers we have to fill out for that, all i get is the run around. I just need some advise on what i need to do. Thanks if anyone out there can help.

When you get married in the US your husband doesn't become a US Citizen automatically. You'll need to Adjust his Status (which we call AOS here on VJ), and only after meeting the requirements and waiting for a certain amount of time he'll get his Green Card.

I mean..... it's a long process and I there are a lot of steps to take. I just tried to give a simple answer but I'm sure someone else will give you more details.

If you want to marry in the US, the best and safest way to bring your fiance here is through the (K1) Fiance Visa by the way.

Good Luck and Welcome to VJ!!!

Read the GUIDES. That'll answer a lot of your questions...... try to gather as much information as you can by readin this website and other people's experience!

Here's what you'll need to start the process:

- Fill out the I-129F petition

- Fill out the G-325a forms (one for you and one for your fiance)

- Two visa photos (one of each)

- Your Birth Certificate (or copy of all pages of your passport)

- Proof that you have met your fiance within the last 2 years

- Letter of Intent to Marry from both of you

- Divorce Certificate if divorced (I'm not sure if that's what it's called.... )

- U$170 to file the petition

Someone please correct me if I'm forgetting something! But yeah.... read the guides and don't be afraid to ask! :star:
