hi,

When you board down the plane.. just keep your passport, boarding pass... and the envelope given by the embassy which is not to be opened..... go on following people and you will have to go through the visitors line if ia m not wrong.... and then you will have to take your luggage and head to immigration... there you have to handover passport and enevlope... where they will stamp your POE... and then you have to go through customs and then exit.

Thats what I had to do ...but my POE was different. It was not NYC

we went through JFK with K1

One the plane they will give you this form to fill out keep it in your passport, you pretty don't have much to worry about, we arrived via air India, and once you land you will go through custom, There's normally a custom officer directing people what line they should go through. I was going to go through the visitor line, then the officer said you are a citizen as such she can join you in the US citizen/resident line.

Once you reach the officer, you give the brown envelope the officer will ask you to follow him to this other room, it looks like a small parking ticket courtroom. He give the passport and the brown envelope to the other officers behind the podium, then you have a seat.

I was with my fiancee the whole time, so there's really nothing to worry about, One your turn comes in, they call you, and give you the passport ( in our case they had already stamp the ead), and the officer will remind you to Get married within 90 days.

If you have a connecting flight, then you proceed to get your bags, you have to clear customs 1st then check your bag again to your final destination

Have a safe Journey.

My hubby came through JFK in May 2007. All went well except they kept him a little longer asking questions. He had a rude officer. A VJ friend of mine, whose husband is a Muslim from Pakistan, was delayed in JFK and questioned for 3 hours! However usually people have an easier time. Especially they seem to be much easier on ladies.

You can click on "Reviews - POE" tab at the top of this page. Click on "JFK" or Newark on the drop-down box then click on "Find Entries" for more recent reviews.
