We are married in Nov 07 but I missed to apply SSN before marriage and my I-94 was expired in mid-Dec 07.

At first, we were waiting to get my SSN once I got my EAD or GC...as we see now, it seems that no more big movements since my biometrics on Jan 4th 08, we are afraid that we might not get the things done by April (the deadline for filing tax)

Anyone who can give us some advices? We'll appreciate it a lot...thanks!! :)

I don't believe you have any more reason to delay.

My (then) fiance arrived on Jan 12. We were married on Feb 09 2008. Last week, we took a completed SSN application, her passport, and a certified copy of our marriage license to the SSA office. They accepted the application and began processing. We're expecting the SS# in a few weeks.

As explained in the VJ discussion on Getting SS Numbers, K1 visa holders don't have to wait for EAD or GC.

K1 Visa Process
USPS Express Mail I-129F Package sent to USCIS VT Service Center 07/05/07

Medical conducted 12/21, 26, 28/07, 01/02/08
USEM Interview conducted 01/04/08
Visas picked up at USEM (request non-delivery) 01/08/08
Family (Mom & kids) arrive Washington, DC 01/13/08

I don't believe you have any more reason to delay. Must have valid (unexpired or less than 14 days from expiring) I-94 which the OP stated was expired.

OP - Judging by your timeline, your EAD should be on it's way soon - hopefully this will arrive with plenty of time to get the SS card. There may be an alternative to this, but unless it is pressing to file soon, I'd hold off just a bit to get the EAD then apply for the SS-card.

Karin und Otto,

Thanks for your encouragement!! :)

My EAD and AP application are so mysterious...I don't know why they are still shown as "undeliverable" online. My hubby called to the USCIS hotline on Feb 8th, but up to today still have no replies...Just want to make an appointment for the INFOPASS, but we found they are only available on March 11th (kind of useless and not worth to ask my hubby to take a time off to go there with me)
