Coping with AP and the long wait.

One of those topics is about how your SO is coping. I must admit, I've been very very needy and moody and pretty much ridiculous. Occassionally, he talks about how he's coping, but mostly he doesn't because he thinks it will upset me. The reality is that it will upset me, but that's probably alright. When I told him about the NAA fiasco (they did this just to ruin my life! why couldn't they wait until next year?!) it was the first time I felt he broke down. He was really looking forward to my next trip and his spirits plummeted when I told him it might not happen cause I really didn't budget for a $2000 ticket. When he said he had to go, I understood that he was too upset to continue talking to me. He has never cried in front of me. Once he's composed himself, he comes back and talks it over with me. Last night was that. He said, God will definitely take care of us. But I know that he's hurting just as much as I am. Maybe worse, cause he feels that as a man, he should be able to "fix" anything that hurts me.

You know what I thought about......in my first marraige my ex didn't want to go to the pastoral counseling you have to have in order to be married. It was probably a red flag that we weren't on the same path, but that's another story. Going through THIS....all of this....is making me feel that much stronger in my relationship with Bassi. It's like the I AM, the Great Jehovah is counseling us Himself. Making sure that we intend to be and stay under this covenant we are seeking.

Hello,

I have been there and done that. Have gone through and felt every thing that everybody else has voiced here. We have been on AP since Sep. 20th.......It is horrible not knowing what is around the corner.....Not knowing When you will see him/her again......It has been close to 2 years for me and my Husband.....April 20 will be 2 years since we have been married.....May 8th 2006 was the last time I touched my Husband.......What makes this Journey so hard is that there are so many ups and downs....You get your approvels and then the wait for the interview.....Then you get the interview date only to wind up on AP.....Then during the AP process your left in the dark .......However when we got the E-mail for him to return to the Embassy On March 5th Ohhhh Let me tell you .......The excitement was intense I could not compose myself.....I was so happy and relived.....Was so happy for about 4 days.....Now I have started worring again........Even though Im confident that he will be given a visa this time....Or asked to return to pick up his visa the following week, Im Extremly nervous and I guess you could say cautious........To the point Im making myself sick with stress headaches.....WIth this journey you cant count on anything until you get that visa in your hands.....We have a week to go.....March 5th is right around the corner.....I am praying by march 13 my Husband will be here with me....The count down is on....Ohhhh Im holding my breath......will keep you posted on how it goes march 5th

We got some news finally. The interview date is scheduled for June 24th. Feels really far away. But not much I can do about that. Just happy to finally have a date. Looking forward to having the ability to plan with something more concrete in place. But I may still wait to buy the ticket when he has his visa.

That is one major hurdle (at least for Ghana) over!! Congratulations!! Just bask in the moment. Believe me, the closer the interview gets, the more wacko you become

Thanks! Well, this portion is really in Bassi's court and he's feeling pressured. So last night, we talked a bit and I told him to take a couple of days and then go back to it. He hasn't been feeling the stress that I have here, because he was only aware of what I told him about. Which I realize now, wasn't much. They gave him the packet which asked for both the I-864 and the I-134. So, I've got to complete the I-864 and add it to the stuff I was going to mail. Does that have to be notarized? The packet also asks for pictures both the old immigration way and the passport way. So, I guess we'll do five each way. Crazy!

I wonder why they are asking for the I-864. I was under the impression that only the I-134 was needed for K visas. As far as I know the I-864 does not need to be notarized.

ZeeNusah,

You have been congratulating members here for the longest time, now it is your turn to get the congrats....

CONGRATULATIONS! on your interview date.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Zainab! I try not to sign any of my posts Z (that's how I usually do it in emails and stuff) so that people won't get confused, but it happens anyway. Thank goodness our SOs don't have similar names!

Thanks for all your congrats! They are well appreciated.

I don't know why they are asking for the I-864. But he has an appointment letter that was revised 10-07 and it says:

Evidence of financial support: I-864, Affidavit of support, a notarized copy. Most recent Tax Returns.

So, I'll just do it. I guess and get it notarized though the form doesn't say it has to be notarized, but as I read that, it appears that they want it notarized. Then there is another sheet labeled Visa Instructions for Fiance nonimmigrant Visa Applicants that requests:

"Evidence which will show that you and your children, if any, are not likely to become public charges in the United States. The enclosed information sheet, Optional Form 167, lists evidence which may be presented to meet this requirement of law. If an affidavit of support is to be submitted, Form I-134 should be used."

That form was revised 8-91. So, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, so I'll just do both forms. It's all the same info really in a different format. I'll get everything notarized to be safe.

That is so weird. I am going to have to double check with my fiance to see what they asked from him. The forms that he sent me say nothing of either the I-864 or the I-134.

Everything you said about the gamut of emotions the people in AP go through resonated with me. I am in the cycle of this now. But unlike you, I do not have the fortitude to endure a year of AP without seeing my husband. However, I admire your strength and will follow your advice.

The letter requesting the I-864 was revised 10-07. It could be a timing issue. Since Nusah got the packets in October, maybe this form wasn't out yet? Or more likely, they're just giving us heck because they can. :innocent:
