Income now vs. 2005 tax return

I scrolled through the first 5 pages for AOS and didn't see this recently, please forgive us as our brains hurt after filling out the AOS paperwork

R. now makes over the 125% poverty guidelines, but he didn't on his 2005 tax return, is this something to be worried about?

The job he is in now is to take over his fathers electrician business and we have a letter from him stating such with the start date and yearly wage, he started that job March 2005 and has had 3 pay raises since then.

This is the last of our worries, I'm going to get my vacc. supplement filled out on Saturday ($50! ) and then we're sending it off.

I think that could be a problem. But I am not 100%. They also had some changes with number of tax returnes they require (from 3 to 1). So if it is easy for you to get a cosponsor you should get one, if not you might get an RFE.

I was in basically the same boat, I just graduated from college last year, so NOW I have a solid teaching job with more then enough salary, but I didn't for enough of 2005. I had my parents cosponsor because it was easy enough to do and they were agreeable to it. If you guys have someone you can ask, I would do that, just to be sure. IF not, I would say send in as much evidence, with a letter of explanation, that things have changed and his 2005 status is no longer an accurate picture of his finances. Good luck!

I don't think so...

They only care about the last year, that is what my lawer told me. But you will never know sometime depend on the officer so cross your fingers.

The intent is to make sure that the person you are bringing over will not become a public charge. So while, they are primarily looking at your last year's employment as a way of measuring your likelihood of being able to support them, I don't think it is the only thing they would be willing to consider. That being said, I got the cosponsor because I didn't want to risk the delay of added questions and speculation. But if that is not an option, I think letters stating employment, contracts, etc. along with notes of explanation might work as a substitue.
