Advice about the moving process from Germany

Hi Everyone,

I filed my I-129F yesterday (4-26-06) with the Nebraska Service Center and am expecting at least a 4-month backlog until the approval gets sent to the US Embassy in Frankfurt, Germany. Assume another month to be granted an interview, receive the K1 visa... best case is that our 90-day marriage eligibilty is possible beginning at the end of Sept., or early Oct..

My fiance is a British citizen and EU resident, living in Germany. He's renting a house and not expecting to bring much with him... What do most people do when their visa is granted? Should he be prepared to move all of his things when he arrives on his K1? Anything he needs to consider because of his British citizenship? Contacts he should be making???

We're trying to understand what the logistics should be so that he's as prepared as possible once the visa is approved.... how far in advance he should prepare what.... that sort of thing. Any help or stories of experience would be most welcome.

Cheers!

Jen (& David)

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
