Worried about our biometrics appointment

Hi friends -

We filed our I-485 and I-765 and have a receipt notice of Jan 31st 2008. However. we have not received our biometrics appointment notice as yet. We called USCIS but they say that our application is pending and it is too early to receive any biometrics appointments. From what I see on this forum, most applicants who have applied in the time-frame we did, they have already completed their biometrics. I am a bit worried. What should I do???

Just give it a little bit more time.

I got my biometrics about 2 weeks after mailing the packages but I also saw some cases that took longer.

I do not think that you have anything to worry about as for now!

Same here..I noticed several people receiving their FP notice appoinment within days of getting their receipt notice. I don't think you can do anything except to wait another 30 days..

We received Bio appoitment after 1.5 months from sending our AOS/EAD/AP. I hoped for quicker date coz I was employed until last friday and they needed me for longer. Well, too bad. Now i m hanging around the house and trying to get our garden to look like a garden

Wow...I hope no one has to wait 1.5 months esp when others are getting their FP relatively quickly.

Is this something related to certain regions? service centers?

Since your case is already transferred to CSC, hopefully your case will move quickly and get approved . Did you get an email stating your case has been transferred?

Biometrics are done at the local offices. When comparing timelines for biometrics, you should only compare times for the same local office as work loads and schedules vary widely.

I had another quick question that is somewhat related. When can we apply for SSN for my spouse?

As soon as you have EAD or GC.

I think u can apply for SSN any time, even without GC or EAD, coz when I was out there the form says u have to choose one of the options why u apply - one of the options was that if u are not able to work blah blah blah u have to explain why u are applying, well, u can say u need it for bank information, for driving license or something like that and they ll give it to u. Coz u need SSN for DL....as i found out u basically need it everywhere. Good luck.
