Hi, I'm new to the website and I've tried to sift thru the endless amounts of posts and info that are available. This site has made the whole visa process a lot clearer and easier to understand, thanks to everyone

But I still have a couple of questions about some of the documentation needed for the interview and any help would be greatly appreciated:

1st, Which Affidavit of Support do I need I-134 or I-864, does it make a difference or will the embassy accept either one? I have surfed thru the website of the embassy in Bogota and they ask for one or the other, depending on which set of instructions, you read.

2nd, Does anyone know exactly which vaccinations are needed, the website of the embassy in Bogota states these

vaccinations:

Mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tetanus and diphtheria toxoids, pertussis,

influenzae type B (HIB), Hepatitis B, Varicella, pneumococcal, and influenza.

I don't know, if this is their vaccine wish list or what they actually require, since the Hep-B vaccine is done in several stages over months and is generally required for people working in the medical field and not for the general public. Also I've heard that the doctor(s) in Bogota, are doing the medical exams and are requiring fresh vaccinations, even if they were done recently.

Hopefully, someone who has already been done this path can help answer some of these questions.

Thanks

Hello and welcome,

You should check out the Colombian thread in the Foreign Embassy forum to see if you find information you might be missing.

1. K3 visas will need form I-134, notarized. The I-864 is used here in the States once you file for AOS.

2. The vaccines the beneficiary will need are varicella, TD & MMR. The doctors in Bogotá will accept vaccines that were administered 8 days before the medical appointment. The beneficiary should either get them at a different facility a few days before their medical or get the shots at the doctor's office the day of their medical.

Thanks Diana,

I appreciate the info, I will fill out both I-134 and I-864(for a later date) and send just the notarized I-134 to my wife. I will also ask her to call one of the doctors that perform the exams, to find the cost of the vaccinations and if their price is not way out of line, just have them done at the time of the appt.

The whole vaccination routine smells of a trampita, vaccines are good for years not days, so I have a feeling these doctors are strecthing the truth a little to make some extra money. What a shock! I can't believe something like that would happen in Colombia.

Ooooh yeah, all of us Colombian VJ members agree with you. The only good reason we could come up with for the doctors not to accept vaccines older than a week is pretty much to make more money. My husband had his done in June, his medical was in late September and Dr. Roa said he needed all of them AGAIN. We were not happy with it but what can you do at point?

Well, I'm glad you let me know about thier setup, it's always good to know about the little pitfalls ahead of time. I think I've got a pretty good feel of the whole process, I have 90% of the documents that I need and I will have the rest shortly. So now the waiting begins.

Thanks Diana for making things clearer, Mike

Man, those jerks! For lack of a better word. Actually not lack of but VJ rules keep me from calling them what they actually are. I don't care how "nice" and "gentle" Dra. González is, she's still getting the big bucks from every person who goes to see her, who HAS to see her. Same with the other SOB Dr. Roa. Augh! :ranting:
