Hey everyone!

I am currently filling out all the needed paperwork in order to change my status from F-1 to permanent resident and there are a few things that confuse me a little bit. I've tried looking at the guides but they all refer to K1 and K3 and I'm not entirely sure what I need to do as an F1.

* Do I need to fill out and send in both the I-130 and I-485?

I read all over the place that the cost of AOS would be around $1100 but the I-485 itself is $1010 and thr I-130 is $350. Not to mention the parole document and EAD. I did read that the EAD would be free if filing it with the I-485.

* Once I have applied can I still go to school and work as a student worker on campus until I get my EAD?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Andreas

Marriage. :)

If you are married to a USC then this is the guide you should follow... it is for anyone who is doing AOS while already in the USA on another visa...

Yes you need to do both and the I-130 is not included in the price you heard around. The 1010 price is for an AOS application based on a K1 or K3 visa.

Also make sure that you send all applications together to the Chicago LockBox address.

EAD and AP are included in the fees of the I-485 so you can apply for those with no additional fees. Just make sure you file the forms for it and put the documents they ask for.

Thanks Cécy. :)

So, since I am filing a I-130 with my I-485 I need to check the box that says:

An immigrant petition giving me an immediately available immigrant visa number has been

approved. (Attach a copy of the approval notice, or a relative, special immigrant juvenile or

special immigrant military visa petition filed with this application that will give you an

immediately available visa number, if approved.)

Sec. 13, Act of 9/11/57

Sec. 245, INA

Sec. 249, INA

Right?

None of the other options make any sense for my situation...

Yes thats the correct option....

Oh dont forget you will need to have a full medical done by a Civil Surgeon and get the completed I-693 in a sealed envelope, you need to include it with your AOS application...

Another stupid question....

What do I put in the A# fields?

As far as I know F1 people do not receive a A# (I could be wrong).
