I’ve just been to my doctors this morning to find out exactly what information is stored about me on my medical records.

For some reason they have me down as suffering with Bulimia Nervosa in 1993. I NEVER suffered from any such thing. I asked my doctor why it would say it and he said it may just have been ‘coded’ this way on their system if I said I had low self esteem. I did NOT make myself sick or anything of the sort. I was wondering whether I have to declare this at my medical since it’s just not true.

Also, in 2002 and 2006 I have two very short lived periods of work related stress, which they have coded as depression and I had a one off appointment with a community therapist for low self esteem issues in 2006. I wasn’t depressed and I was told after my one appointment that I did not need ‘therapy’.

What I wondered is this…..I can get my doctor to write me a letter explaining my medical history and stating that I am not suffering from depression, nor am I receiving any treatment for such illness. He is happy to do this – but will it be enough, or do I need to make an appointment with a registered psychiatrist/psychologist to ask them to write a letter for me?

Please help I’ve just been thrown into a panic!

I dont understand, why do you think that the doctor to the medical visit will know that?

You just have to come with your vaccination records. They will not have acces to your medical history. Medical history is confidential.

You have to complete a questionaire stating if you have ever suffred from depression

If you think trully and honnestly that you was never in depression, so answer : No

I know they don't have access to my medical records, but if my answers are different to the records, wouldn't this constitute lying?

if i was you i will answer "no", cause they dont have access to these informations. And by the way they want to know if your currently sick. they dont care about bulimia you maybe had 15 years in the past.

I am just so scared they will subpoena my records and then deport me for lying! At least what they percieve to be a lie anyway.

i understand and i only give you my opinion. I'm sorry that i can't help you more. By the way if you can give me a link to the medical questionnaire i wil appreciate.

I appreciate your opinion, I really do. I'm just a natural born worrier. I'm inclined to say no on the application, and if anything were to ever come of it I would dispute my medical records as inaccurate. I am NOT depressed!

I don't have a link to the questionaire either, I just heard about it through various threads on this forum......

I worry a lot too, i try to show that i'm strong 'cause i use to do that. But... its not true. There is a million of question in my head all the time. I'm really afraid to do a mistake.

That process is one of the hardest time in my life.

It's the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Let the government scrutinise my love life....nightmare!
