you do not need your lawyer to find out where your case is. Call the NVC to see if they have yourpetition. it is an automated system that uses your reciept number on your I130.

Can you give me the phone number? I will have to make a call from

Japan but I think it's worth it. I feel inclined to start the

I-130 - CR-1 route as well. I will read up more on it tomorrow and

then move on it. I really appreciate all your input.

Call 603.334.0700 then use menu selections 1-5 to talk to a human. You'll need your NOA1 receipt number.

You'll want to google "James' shortcuts" for information on how to speed things through NVC. The first step will be for your wife to designate an agent of choice. With you in Japan, NVC will we slowed by the mail time back and forth but she can cut the lawyer out of the rest of the CR1 process by designating herself or you as agent of choice. This can be done by email. What would be faster is to designate a good friend or relative but they'll need to pay some fees too, so you'll need to fund that.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
