Sending everyone a huge hello and esalaam from Alger;;;;

Have not been online here for a very long while now unforunately waiting and wading throu the DZ BS here:::

Hello to the new members and good luck to ya;;; esp HELLO to all the new DZ couple::: here if you need any help with Algerie; Algerie culture; or the process.

My question is; I have been out of the USA for a while now, and for the 2nd yr I have not filed my taxes since I have not been there to file them. After all this wait; it seems we cannot move forward unless I get back to the States , plus i have a personal thing I just found out about. I hate to leave my husband of course; since btwn us things are going so well:::so I guess it has come to this. My questions lays in that after waiting and waiting for this DCF; not being able to file::: should I file my CR1 from here or wait until I get back to the States which will probably be in May/June. Also with me not filing taxes, throu being here I have no real income to recport;;;; what should I do? And with no real income, is my sponsor enough? Questions I have looked and thought about; tried read about here; and which Alger consulate will not answer definately.

Thanks

Henia,

I don't have the answers to the questions you are asking, but I just wanted to say Hello!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I don't have a clue either. I do have an assumption though, that ur sponsorship probabaly won't be enough since you're not making enough to support him in the states. My GUESS is that you would probably need a co-sponsor if they're requiring that you show proof of income. You may, however, be able to get by without it since u have bene in his country for so long. I know that probably doesn't help any but at least it might be somethign to think about... Good luck and its great to see you again!

Henia, from my personal experience I filed the I-130 Immigration in June and 1 month after I filed in July for the I-129F

( Theres no fee for that but send the fee in or they will screw your timeline with the USCIS up they will eventually return the fee with a letter to your bank also) after I received a WAC It's been 7-8 Almost 9 months and my husband hasnt had a way to come here yet. We just started to get a request for evidence and they finally started updating our papers in the system January 31st but it's been a month almost now and they are researching our case. Get your senator involved from the beginning like after 2-3 months I would recommend you DO not take a lawyer - It's easy money for lawyers. If you need any information about my personal visa let me know I will inform you with what I can. File asap if you are going to be there with your husband for a while longer? If you can file and stay with your husband longer stay as long as you can with him its horrible being separated!!:crying:

Hello. I also lived overseas for two years with my husband (in Egypt) where we filed for a CR1/IR1 and I had to file taxes while there. It is required of US citizens, even if living overseas. You will definitely need to look into that. As for a joint sponsor... even though I was earning well over the immigration "poverty guidelines" while working in Cairo, I still needed to get a joint sponsor for my husband. The US government would not count my overseas income, and I didn't want to get into listing the property I own in the states, so it was just easier to get joint sponsors.

Good luck in your decision making!!!

Summer 2003- We met (in the U.S.) and began dating.

Summer 2004- My SO moved back to Egypt; I spent a month there with him.

December 2004- SO called my parents and got permission to ask for my hand in marriage; They said yes, of course!

Christmas 2004- I traveled back to Egypt and accepted his proposal while we were on the sands by the Red Sea...

July 2005- Got married; I moved to Egypt

Nov. 2005- Began the immigration process!!!

July 2006- Hubby's immigrant "interview" at embassy in Cairo was no interview- told to file waiver for past visa overstay

Aug. 2006- Waiver sent from Cairo to Athens

April 2007- Waiver transferred from Athens to Rome

August 2007 - I moved back to U.S. from Egypt in anticipation of waiver approval (just had a feeling!!) and to continue my career because my 2 year work contract had expired in Cairo and my wondeful job was still here waiting.

Nov. 2007- Waiver approved... thank the good Lord!!!!

Dec. 2007- Interview- but not really an interview- just had to sign the updated DS230; Told to expect visa in 2 weeks.

Jan. 2008 - Visa in hand! It actually did arrive in 2 and a half weeks... Hubby back in our home 2 days later!!!

Feb. 2008- Green Card arrives

Today and everyday- Loving life back in our home, having a blast, enjoying every moment with family and friends, praying for all of you still waiting! Miracles DO happen!!!

A very big hello again to everyone and husg for all the warm welcome backs. Unfortunately we have not had internet at home for me to connect on ::: so many times I donnot like to wait for a space at the cyber cafe.

I just went to the OB GYN and found out I am 3 months pregnant, elhamdullah esp after all years miscarriage. We are being so careful so enchallah this pregnany will be ok. But after talking dH and I decided that having the baby in the USA is best; easier to petition to one person rather then 2. And that would give me a chance to get us little something together for when he arrives. And quite honestly I am just little tired of Alger. Ready for the comforts of the US that I miss; taking a long hot bubble bath; convience of the shopping there; cheese ::: grilled cheese on sourdough in particular; steak Mmmm, my car, not to mention all that my duaghter is missing right now.

Welcome back Henia - good to see you back on VJ! I,m sorry that I can't provide advice but what hopeful is saying makes to me the most sense.

Jess, hey how are you? Still in KSA? Yea, I have not really had an income from the USA in the past 2 years to even claim taxes on, but I have to figure how to file from here. And the little income I earn here; in dinars is not enough to claim anyway.

Sara, your baby is just sooooo precious. God bless her:::

Wahrania::: Congrats on the baby

Sarahaziz yes definately no plans to hire any attorney; since I have since a decade dealt with this system. You always do a better job them them anyway. If our pla,s go accordingly we plan to stay until May just before the airfare gets too high; and before I miss that deadline for riding airplanes.

I want to file today; but just do not know about the AoS, the taxes and sponsorship. I have people to sponsor us; 3 in fact since i am sure I will need sponsor; but just not sure when I need to get the financial papers together ;when I file or at a later date. We had been planning to file DCF but after all this waiting to get my resideny here in DZ to be able to even file::: seems they will not be giving to me without me shelling out thousands of dollars. So better to forget this Algerien beaurucracy and start where we should have:::: USA embassy.

Anyway thanks to everyone here. Nice to see everyone.*Good Luck to all petitions and welcome home to new approvals.
