To go back (just a little bit) to the too young, too this, too that.... (no i will not judge)

BUT!

I think the right question when you talk about a marriage is... would the USC be ready to marry in Philipines and leave there for a while just because he loves her... and would she be happy with that situation.

I think this prove real love and commitment.

Sure, that's one of many "tests" one might apply. Different strokes and all. For instance, although I would have been willing to live in China for a while, it would not have been a practical choice for our family at the time we married. We intend to spend a lot of time in China from 2010 forward though. I suspect it would be highly impractical for many with bona fide relationships.

As foreign as it might sound to many, "real love" is not a requirement for a bona fide marriage relationship, from the standpoint of a Consular officer. It's a good thing but not a requirement.

LOL. Tru dat pushbrk. Amen.

Not to say that babe07's relationship isnt real but I think people are forgetting that the Consular Officers are looking for the "legality" of the relatonship. CO's cant and wont be able to tell if relationships are real. If they could, I think a very, very high majority of K1 applicants in the Philippines and other third-world countries would get rejected. Just my .02.

Well, it is and I share your standard of "real love" for my own marriage. It's just not a requirement imposed by Consular officers. A real marriage need not include love as far as immigration is concerned. It simply must be about significantly more than obtaining an immigration benefit for the foreign partner.

For instance, there are still "arranged marriages" that may or may not include "real love" until after the fact.

A legitimate purpose may be companionship and caretaker, where both parties desire companionship and say one needs financial support while the other needs "care".
