To all my Canadian forum friends,

We are going through some rough ####### in this house. 2 weeks ago I went to see my GP and after a bit of poking on top of my clothes, she announced:

Dr. insensitive: "weeeellll, looks like we need an ultrasound".

Len: For what? :(

Dr. insensitive: weeeeellll, we won't know after we get the results now, won't we? -_-

Len: but why do we need one?

Dr. insensitive: weeeeelll, it appears there could be a little something there.... -_-

Len: uh, ok.... a little something like WHAT? :(

Dr. insensitive: weeeellll, that's why we need the ultrasound, don't we? -_-

Fkuc me. So off I go to get the damn thing done. See conversation with technician.

Lab tech: weeeellll (this is so annoying, the weeeeeeelllll), let's see what we have here.... pokey pokey pokey

Len: aha

Lab tech: hmmmm, measure, measure, measure.... click click click

Len: measure WHAT?

Lab tech: oh, just measuring things my dear

Len [thinking] I am not your dear you fukcing b1tch, just tell me.

Lab tech: so, do you have children?

Len: errr. no, not yet.

Lab tech:

Len: why? something wrong?

Lab tech: weeeeelllll, your Doctor will tell you when she interprets the results.

Again, fukc me. We are so overwhelmed. We have no freaking idea what's going on. I am upset as heck :ranting:, sad, paranoid and the like. And now wait until freaking MARCH 7 to see Dr. insensitive :clock:. This is seriously freaking us both out like nothing else  . I am not asking for medical advise, just for a little luv here. #######, #######, #######.

Thanks for listening.

awww sweetie!!! I'm so sorry!!!

I HATE THAT! Lab techs suck..if I were one, if it were something that serious or I knew the patient was completely beside themselves, I'd tell them what the h$ll was going on with their body!!! I know it's against their policy cause they aren't doctors and they don't want to misdiagnose but if they know nothing is wrong with you, say it...come on!

Hang in there sweetie..I'm sure you are fine. (F)

Love you!

OK Len - your Dr is a knob, class A, number 1, f-ing knob.

What you can get some peace (maybe piece too ) of mind from is the fact that they aren't rushing you back into the Dr's office. If they thought it was anything truly serious, they would not be waiting.

Ultrasounds can be FUN, big fun...my personal fav is the transvaginal (sorry boys)....which I get to have several times a year to monitor ovarian cysts. Some man created that one extra specvially to torture women, I'm sure of it. (Flames9...don't berate me yet, I know it's supposed to be helpful :) )

I hate that the technician can't really tell you anything, and shouldn't because they're not entirely knowledgable.

Whatever you do, try to just put it out of your mind and decide that you'll do some worrying teh night before. I eprsonally am heading to the OB GYN on Mar 10 now because my cysts have changed and they want to monitor to see if they need to be removed.....yep, good timing, right around when I wantto start looking for a job. :(

Stay strong girl, probably something not worth losing sleep over till you know what they say.

Wow, that Dr is one huge jerk!! pretty much broke every rule on what they tell ya not to do! It is your body and the DR should alert you to what could be wrong! A competent Dr (or whatever profession) should be able to tell ya, and not have 1 freak out, if you know what I mean! Don't believe the lab tech should tell you what the results are, as they do not have the "whole' picture, but they should be treating one with respect and not calling one "dear"!

Hope your doing as well as one can in this sort of situation!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Oh sis....what a jerkazz dr! (((((((((hugs))))))))))To make you wait that long is also beyond belief. If it were me, I would be calling on Monday and demanding to know what she suspected AND why. IT IS YOUR BODY and you have every freaking right to know! Joel knows when I'm hot about something like this...I let Towanda loose and I don't mince words either! I have gotten one dr so frustrated with me that he walked out...and came back (had to cool off I guess) but I got the answers I wanted AND deserved. Then I went and found myself another dr.

Udella&Wiz....I can definately empathise with you on those transvaginal ultrasounds. I have ovarian cysts and by golly I always get a bumbling idjit when I get one done. Poke...poke....oh, does that hurt? *rolls eyes to the heavens* I absolutely HATE them...the ultrasound. Sometimes I think the lab tech musta made a D- on that part of the test.

Oh Len, feeling for you here. Years ago, I had to have a cervical cyst biopsied (again sorry boys!). When the doc was biopsying it, she said to her nurse, oh it doesn't look good. I was a wreck until the results came back. It did come back fine, but it was a horrendously anxiety filled waiting period.

I echo the advice of those who suggested you call the doc again. Even if the doc does not have results from the test yet, they should give you more information on what they were testing for, etc.

Good luck and love coming at ya!

((((((((((((((((((((((((len)))))))))))))))))))))))),

it just sucks when the doctors and the lab techs can't be up front with you. A number of years ago my doctor did the prodding thing and the hmm thing, but at least she told me what she suspected - that she felt a suspicious mass on my ovary. I went and had the ultra sound and of course the tech wouldn't say anything, just said that the doctor would interpret the results. So I went back to the doctor and she said she wanted to schedule me for an exploratory laproscopy - which they did. By the following week which is when I had the laproscopy - there was nothing there anymore- and they decided it was probably just one of the regular cysts that ovaries get during a monthly cycle that eventually dissolves. I wouldn't get too worried about this. It is probably just an ordinary ovarian cyst and nothing to be upset about at all.

So many doctors seem to have it in their heads that patients are unaware and dumb and that they are the all important 'God' - heck, why listen to the patient! I have encountered that attitude here in the States more times than I care to remember. I really miss the good working relationship I developed with my family physician and my endocrinologist back in Canada! I have a good GP here and a decent endo - but a number of the other specialists I have seen are more full of themselves and can't be bothered to develop any sort of rapport with their patients!

Chiming in on how I doubt they'd be so casual about when you see the doc if it was something serious. I'm not a doctor of course, but it seems logical. I remember my doctor telling me that any serious results from my STD tests done during annual bloodwork came back positive for something serious, she'd be notified right away and they'd have me in ASAP. That's Canada, so who knows ...

Maybe cysts or endometriosis? I take it you've ruled out pregnancy? (had to ask)

Try not to stress too much, if they are being this casual about it. *hugs*

Well, 10 years ago -when I was young and restless- I had one ovary removed. Back then I really didn't give a rodent's butt; but now is different. I am terrified. Of what? Of all the implications and possibilities. I HATE doctors - someone should remind them they're fking human.

I will call on Monday and see IF Dr. insensitive will even answer my call. thank you all.

Your physician wasn't being a "jerk, a snob, rude; acting like a god or otherwise insensitive." She was doing exactly what she was supposed to be doing. Why do I say that? Because she told you everything you not only needed to know at the time, but everything she knew as well.

Look back at what she said (or rather, what you told us she said to you). According to your own statements, your doctor told you: "It appears there could be a little something there...."

She told you what she knew. She thought there might be "something" there. If she knew exactly what it might be, why would she order a test (i.e. the ultrasound) to check it out? She wouldn't need it.

In addition, I believe she did not tell you what it "might be" because (aside from not knowing exactly what it is) any theory at this point in time would serve to do nothing but worry the patient unnecessarily. When it comes to medicine, many times symptoms of certain diseases or conditions can mimic one another, so it's practically impossible to tell what is what without the proper tests. Telling a patient one assumption after another is irresponsible -- it can cause undue worry, tension and stress on the part of the patient. It's far better to withhold diagnosis until the potential problem has been found or at least narrowed down.

So do please try and understand the situation here. Your physician wasn't attempting to irritate you or purposefully "keep you out of the loop" regarding your own body. She most likely felt that until she had a better idea of what she was dealing with, she couldn't reasonably and responsibly give you the answer you were looking for at that time.

Len I'm so sorry hun (F) Don't be scared, with my little 4 months here in the country I know one thing: everyone is so worried about liability issues!, and that goes double...10 times! for docs, it sounds to me that's why your doc is not giving you more information now, and wants to wait for results. I know it sucks not knowing now but don't get worked up for what may (and hopefully will) turn out to be nothing.

Take care and we'll all be praying for you and sending you our good vibes (L)hug_smiley_sm.gif
