What did you do with all your stuff ?

Me and Joy are trying to figure out a plan of what to do with all her personal posessions before she comes here. Now this has become a bit of a touchy subject as she is very attached to her stuff and a bit of what I would call a packrat. My more practical approach (just sell the stuff) didn't go over so well and promptly got myself a nice big serving of Tampo

Joy lives in Cebu City and her family is in GenSan she has already packed several Balikabayan size boxes of clothes and such. What carrier might we use to get the stuff to Gensan that is dependable and reasonably priced? It don't have to be fast just trustworthy.

Also what if she wanted to send boxes of personal stuff here to the states what is the best way to do that and what sort of cost?

I already brought 1 bag of clothes with me on my last trip there. I know she will be able to bring 2 luggage and a carryon. But I'm not for sure that will be enough for her.

Any other advice here would be helpful as my ideas have not went over so well.

Thanks

Hoosier.

I brought 5 BIG luggages with me ,1 carry-on and a handbag. My fiance and I travelled together via Cathay Pacific. He only brought few things which he placed in my luggages so we only got charged with 1 luggage which was $160.00. It was quite pricey but I it was cheaper than having to send thru a mail service. Why don't you try calling your airline and ask the cost for excess baggage so you can compare the cost if you wanna send it thru mail.

i am planning to use Johnny Air Cargo for shipping my books to the US. they quoted me a rate of $150 for a 20inx20in standard box regardless of the weight. But since hubby lives in Rhode Island, we have to add an additional $85 for the ground shipment from New Jersey to RI. They have different locations in the US, unfortunately RI is not one of them. I think their main office is in California so maybe they'll give u the $150 rate. Here in the Philippines, their locations are in Legaspi Village, Makati and SM Megamall.

...or you can sell some of your stuff by holding a garage sale...earn some money and bring only the things you really would like to bring to the States...

heck, you can even donate some of your old clothes to charity...i'm sure you won't be needing all when you get to the States...

just my 2 centavos bro...

Thanks

Hoosier.

Easiest and SAFEST to have her bring extra balikbayan boxes when she flies. Cost a bit but MUCH safer.

That's what my wife and anak did.

Anak had to have her 5' teddybear with her naman!!

I am sending my furnitures and other stuff to my mother in the province soon thru LIBCAP. I won't be bringing lots of stuff to the States other than my shoes, purses and clothes as my fiance told me I can get everything I need from there. Sounds practical to me, I don't have to pack a lot. Some of my stuff are distributed to my relatives and friends here in Manila. some were sold in 50% off hehehehhhe. You can visit www.libcap.com.ph. They deliver cargos all over the Philippines in an affordable price. Just try to contact them if you may wish...
