Recently my husband and I went to our interview. We are both students and I was wondering how would I go about getting an excuse? It is now almost a week after an I am really wondering how to go about this. The letter to the interview did not have my name on it only his is there anything that I can do? I would need an excuse for school and/or work?

You need an excuse to say why you missed school?

First of all I think you should have planned it before going to the interview.

Secondly, make a copy of the letter, does it ask the spouse to be present on the letter? Even if not, you can explain to your school how it works and why you missed it.

But I think it's always better to tell people ahead of time: 'I won't be here this day because I have an interview with immigration" rather than doing it afterwards.

Funny thing I did inform my proffessors of my absense but they need some sort of proof. I do not have the letter as they took the letter at the interview. My spouse is the immigrant and I am the citizen. The letter did say to bring your spouse but the USCIS officers took this letter. Is there another way to request another letter?

:innocent:

Is there an alternative

Are you an adult or a child... children need an excuse to miss school... adults inform them they wont be there and if the school dont like it then thats their issue not yours....

What are your school going to do??? give you detention? mark down your grade... all because you missed a day to attend to a personal matter.... so do they provide the school with a letter if they need to be off for any reason? I think not...

AS for getting another letter, you have got no chance of that... write a letter to your school outlining the immigration process and give them the 1800 so they can confirm that what you have said it correct... if they do call they will either get through to someone or they will give up like most of us do....
