I was just saying I feel very deeply Minnesotan. I am certainly American, but it has less meaning for me, even while abroad. I find myself telling people about our winters and shoveling the driveway, about being one of the coldest metropolises in the world, about our beautiful summers. I've lived other places in the US, but my heart will always be in Minnesota.

Rey said he feels more paulista (from Sao Paulo state) than he feels Brazilian.

So how do you feel?

I am loyal to my family. I've never felt loyal to a country, state, region, etc. I can say I am happy to live here and feel privileged, but true 100% loyalty lies with my family bonds.

I'm more loyal to Indiana than elsewhere. I am very loyal to Wyoming too, though, as I spent many wonderful years there. I have great respect for the Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont area, too. I'm not overly loyal to the entire country, really. There are parts that I vehemently dislike, as well as some general "trust issues" I have with the country itself.

I could easily pick Canada over the US, but I'd have a difficult time picking Southwestern Ontario over Indiana, if you know what I mean.

I used to feel more New Jerseyan than American, but with all the political stuff in the last few years I've become a lot more patriotic.

I assume my husband would say he feels more British than whatever, since he's making me use the Union Jack on the profile instead of the saltire.

ETA: He says he identifies with these in the following order:

1. Britain

2. Scotland

3. New Mexico

4. United States

This is an interesting poll - I liked it.

I'm proud to be a northerner and I feel loyal to my region (upstate NY). I love where I'm from, and although I don't like the cold winters, I feel at home there. I live in Florida now and it's home - I'm happy here, but it's not the same as being from the northeast - NY in particular. Plus, that's where my family lives...

My husband I think would say he feels more like a manauara (someone from the city of Manaus) or Amazonense (a person from the state of Amazonas) than he would Brazilian.

I think I have a love hate relationship with where I feel "home" is. 23 years in Connecticut and I *love* being able to jump in the car and have all that culture within hours 1.5 to Boston, 3 hours to NYC and upstate, 6 hours to MD, 6 hours for Canadian border. I couldnt ask for more. Although... the cost of living ratio, disenfranchised independant voters, and my general need to explore other places. We had made a decision to go back in a few years, but for now, we will be staying in a great city with absolutely. nothing. around. it. :help:

One thing is, when I moved to FL from CT and I visit "home" - it just isn't. My husband feels the same way about Cairo.

When I am home in Nova Scotia, I am pro-Cape Bretoner, because that's where I was born, so Caper I am

When I am around other Canadians, I am pro-Maritimer / Atlantic Canadian

When I am around others from all over the world, I am a proud Canadian.

I also have an affinity for my fellow Commonwealth brothers and sisters. :)

Though I will say, Oklahoma is definitely growing on me!

I would have to say I am a very proud Canadian and identify with that country the most. I love all of Canada because each region is unique in its own special way..... so I don't have a particular allegiance to any one province or city. But I am also from England so I have a special place in my heart for the UK and all its unique regions too. But, then, I have also travelled the US extensively so I feel the same way about it. Wherever I go, 95% of the time I can find something to love about that particular country and its people, so I could probably be happy in almost any area I have had the pleasure of visiting/living in. I just hate not being able to be a part of my family and friends' daily lives anymore. But this is where I am now, so I make the most of it. The world is beautiful and life is fun. I intend to enjoy it while I can.

Alex, are you a member of Zogby Interactive Surveys? They ask this question on their surveys each and every time. The other one that foncuses me is "do you consider yourself a member of the investor class?".

ps I didn't vote because I don't know.

I agree 100% about the proximity to 'culture' and the high cost of living.

What do you mean by disenfranchised independent voters, though?

I doubt there is much out there that could lure me from the city of St. Louis. I am a city girl through and through and proud of where I come from.

Andre has lately been stating he doubts he could go back to Jamaica and live. He said it is now too limiting for him.

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

CT is one of the 19 states that you cannot vote in the primary if you are an independent. They make you choose in order to participate.
