medical exam

hi all, we r going to file my AOS and i want to know about the medical exam form,i read that if you are a k1 holder and you had an exam overseas within one year than you dont have to have a medical exam for the AOS but you have to file an other form i forget it name ,something supplement i think. Well in morocco i passed the medical exam but they didnt give me any copy any record of the medical test,so i know it is in the sealed envolop.So what i have to do? just send everything and feel fine or i have to write To whom it may concern and write that no medical exam copy was given to me.????

If you don't mind a possible RFE, I would note it in the covering letter and see what happens. I didn't send in an I-693a either. Another option would be to contact the panel physician who did you medical and see if they'll send you a copy. See this pinned thread on the topic.

ty for ur reply,i dont think the dr who did my medical test in morocco,will even care to answer.they just take money and do the tests ,anyway i hope there will be no problem.better luck for u

If you have your vaccination records, you can get the I-693A Vaccination Supplement done with no problem, you don't need the entire medical report. Just show the copies of your vaccinations to the civil surgeon doc and he will fill in the correct paperwork.

i dont have anything like i said ,the dr didnt give or send anything to me neither the consulate ,they said have the medical test in 2 weeks before the interview and that what i did.the consulate gave me the sealed envelop ,that was all, i dont have any copies or record.

So, you never had any vaccinations? Because usually the Consulate-approved doctor will not give vaccinations to K1 applicants, so if you didn't have them in the past (your childhood), you probably didn't get them. My husband was in the same situation, so he went ahead and got shots from a doctor (doesn't matter who, doesn't need to be a civil surgeon). For most people, you need Tetanus, and two shots each (several weeks apart) of MMR and Varicella. The doc who gives the shots will give you proof (usually a sticker from the vaccination bottle) and you can give that to a civil surgeon to transfer the info onto the I-693A Vaccination Supplement. That is what we did.

Each country is different. Some consulates require the vaccinations to be completed as part of the medical, while some will allow them to be deferred until the beneficiary reaches the AOS stage.

Dolphin, did you receive any vaccinations at your medical, or were vaccinations discussed at that time?

yes i had a medical test,when the consulate sent the interview email,to say the date of my interview they gave 3 names and addresses of doctors,i chose one ,i called and made an appointment and i went there 2 weeks before the consulate interview,like the consulate eamil said, i had vaccinations at the dr office and then she sent me to a laboratory so they get some blood for the test,then dr sent me again to a place for chest scan (it is the only thing i have with me now as they gave it back to me in the consulate).the dr office sent the medical test to the consulate,but none gave me a copy.the dr office was full of people who were applying for US visa.so i dont know what to do,when i will apply i will go ahead and send a letter with the all the AOS file saying that they didnt give me a record.if i will get a RFE i will go have tests again

I am a bit confused by your post. Your physician didn't give you a sealed copy of your medical to bring to your interview or attach a vaccination record to it for you? If not then how did you manage to get approved at the interview at the Consulate in your home country? I'm guessing that you gave the sealed copy to the interview officers. They put it in the sealed envelope that you handed over at the border. The border officials are supposed to send it somewhere so USCIS has it. That's why we're not supposed to need the medical so I'm a bit confused as to why you're worried about this. We did ask for a copy but we weren't supposed to have to and we ended up with an RFE because they lost our medical, so in the end it turned out to be a good thing that we asked for a copy... but that's a situation that doesn't happen to everyone and we shouldn't have had to do that.

You're just supposed to have to send in the I-693A vaccination supplement, so I'm guessing you don't have the vaccination record from your home country for some reason?

Okay, not a problem (crosses fingers) Dolphin. It sounds like your vaccinations were completed but you won't know for sure until, or if, you hear from them. I never received a copy of my vaccination or medical information from my panel physician, either. What I did was make mention of it in my covering letter saying that the vaccinations were completed as part of the medical and are with the package submitted at the POE. Worst case scenario is that you get an RFE. I have seen many K-1's receive their AOS without the I-693a. There are also many whose medicals get "lost" and are found again.... or not, as the case may be. It's up to you, at this point, which road you choose.
