Hi everyone,

Weeks passed snd still have no news about my visa so we finally gave them a call..and thats after 2 emails which was not replied. Anyways, as my fiance talked to one of their representative he was told that I gave them a wrong police clearance;which was being checked during the interview and never told that was not the right one and so I mailed them off the required one on tuesday and was received thursday.

Anyone here knows how should I wait after they received it? or does it mean I have to wait for the next 3 months again? ( OH!! I HOPE NOT).

Hi guys!

It was the police certificate from Philippines. Half of my life spent in Phils so they asked me for my police certificate and though I have all the possible douments they might be needing I gave them the local police certificate thinking it was the one they asked., and was not even questioned about it( I have also the national one on hand at that time)

And YES. I got approved during the interview and was told visa will be mailed off on or before 2 weeks.

Yet, after month delayed we called them and was told about the police certificate, I mailed them the required one the afternoon of that day we phoned them.

Certainly looks like what I had. As long as you have no record(nothing is found) and it says it went through the national repository, I believe that is all you need.

If you had a record, then the fingerprint check variety is required

Ahh, I get it now? Think you should definitely be contacting them to see what's up, especially if you think you've sent them everything they asked for.

If the thurs you refer to was justa few days ago, I would perhaps wait a few days, up to you in the end.

Did you ever actually get an official RFE letter from them for this new police certificate or was it just through a phone conversation?

WE were told that the letter informing us the police certificate was mailed FEB 12...though I havent received it yet I decided to mail off wht they needed since they were so clear about what is lacking.

I am not sure if everybody has they same prob with the Canada post in transporting mails from the consulate or it is just me who is having this problem.

For instance we were told packet 4 was mailed off Dec 09 and received it Jan 11...and the letter which was said mailed off FEB 12 and until now still waiting for it.

Don't know where you live, but I lived just outside Toronto and on average it took about 10 business days to get anything back from Montreal.

Canada Post is just pathetic - you'll see that echoed many times in this forum.

Wow, just stupid isn't it?

In hind sight, would have been better to wait til the VISA was in hand.....not being judgemental...so many people on here have had to wait for stuff from the consulate for whatever reason and see their plans change.

Here's hoping it all pans out for you! Crossing fingers

Canada post is slow!! Sorry 1 would think with all this technology, they (Immigration) could just email ya with what they require! Accomplishing 2 things! 1) saves the the fee of mailing the item 2) it is soo much faster (and free) They send you the email, and in that email there is a REPLY link stating you got the email!! If no reply, they then snail mail it!! But that all makes too much sense, lol Last fall I did hear a radio interview with a top immigration official, and they do want to go more electronic! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I know.....it was just during the interview we were so definite about the visa arriving before Feb ends...and the interviewer himself was so definite even suggested for visa pick-up...but since we do trust them even said we will just wait for them to mail it off since I will not be leaving yet not until March 16, and also I only took 2 days off for the interview and still need to go back to work the following working day.

Ok to wrap-up everything....work was given final notice till March 14 (last day of work)..everythings( clothes, books, name it) mailed off to LA and all in good hands now.

OH WELL, it is indeed un expected.
