Hello guys,

We received NOA2 and it says our petition is good until April 14th...medical exam is scheduled for Feb 25th, no interview date yet. I'm kind of wondering if it is necessary to ask for an extension...would really hate to start all over after waiting 4 months for the NOA2....

Any advice would be appreciated.

As long as your petition remains active, the consulate/embassy will automatically extend it for you.

It is standard operating procedure at most consulates to automatically extend the validity of the K-1 NOA2 letter.

Example: Guangzhou China never interviews before the expiration date of the form.

There is a form letter in the examples that you can use to request and an extension if you suspect consulate may fail to extend.

I wouldn't worry about it. Our NOA2 was dated 10/18 & valid until 2/17 and we didn't need an extention. Considering my husband made appts a few weeks into the future after receiving package 3 from the embassy so that he could take time off work, it was a concern for me too, but it was no problem and DOS said that if an extention was needed, there would be no problem. Did she make an appt with a doctor on the embassy's list? You're not allowed to use any doctor, only certain ones. Good luck!
