Well it's almost that time! We'll be going back home for a visit in about 3 weeks! :help: We should arrive in Dublin 3 weeks from today. We're renting a wee car in Dublin (economy 5 door) from budget, anyone rented from budget before?

Does anyone have any travel advice, this will be my first time back home in a year and a half. This is also my first time using my green card! I'm also hunting out a decent exchange rate for UK Pounds and Euro!

I have used Irish car rentals & in my experience they were the cheapest. As for the exchange rate, I think using a bank here would be cheaper than waiting to change money in the airport(but I am no 100% sure). All I know is.......American money isn't worth the paper it's printed on

have a safe trip!

I've noticed budget don't tell you until after you've booked that they have a 40EUR fee for picking up the car at the airport, well least in Dublin anyway! :( ah well.. that capitalism for ye, looks like it's invaded our wee country too  I think we might either cash out our monopoly money here for some Euros & Pounds or if we get a better deal at a bank back home cash in the Dollars there. We're going to avoid the airport for changing money as they don't always offer the best deals.

Sherry and Niall,

Congrats!!! Very very happy to hear the great news about the visa!! Looking forward to meeting up whenever Niall gets to the US. I'm in New Hampshire on a business trip til Friday then I'm back in Charlotte for a day then off to Ireland for a week then have friends visiting....busy, busy, busy but let me know when Niall is settled and we'll organize something.

Aiden,

I did read somewhere on the website for Budget about a EUR25 fee for picking up at Cork Airport which annoyed me also, especially since I have no choice but to collect at the airport as they do not have an office in Cork city but I'll be so tired after all the flights to to Cork from Charlotte then at that stage I'd probably pay double that just to get the friggin' car and get outta the airport and get home for some rest. I rented from Budget in Manchester, NH airport yesterday and they gave me a very bright orange Chevrolet Cobalt. I think you can see it from the shuttle. Hopefully the car I get from Budget in Cork airport will be less visible from space.

Yep we checked it too, it's in the small print alright. Ah well in the end I can't really complain that much. They are still giving a better deal than most other rental places. I hope you get something better in Cork, I hope we don't get like a pink Polo or something

Well with just 2 and a half days at work before we go, I have to admit we are excited about going back. It's going to be really weird to feel the tempature in the 40's at night and 50's or low 60's during the day. I've gotten used to it being like 18 -20 at night and up in the 80's or 90's during the day :hehe:

Good luck with the trip and enjoy the craic!

Hi All!

I just found this thread and wanted to add Stephen and I to the list! I live in Birmingham, Alabama and my fiance, Stephen, lives in Helen's Bay, just outside of Belfast. We sent in our K1 in May and are just trying to wait it all out as patiently as we can! We're hoping everything will be sorted so that Stephen can come over in October. That's if everything goes realllly smoothly!

I've found so much useful info on this website and have come across some really nice folks as well. Best of luck to everyone!!!

2007:

February - May: extended visit to States, engagement.

5/4: I-129F sent (Texas Service Center, forwarded to California Service Center)

5/11: Petition received at California Service Center.

5/16: Check cleared. NOA1 online (no hard copy received yet)

6/19: NOA1 hard copy arrived FINALLY

7/16: Sent off for Police Certificate (U.K.)

8/22: TOUCHED due to phone call (RFE Trick, was told case wasn't assigned yet)

9/20:APPROVED!!! After 127 days from NOA1 and 139 days from filing date.

10/23: Spoke to Kelly at NVC who said they should have received our petition by now. She advised I send a copy of our NOA2 directly to the NVC office, which I did immediately. :-)

10/26: NVC RECEIVES CASE!

10/30: NVC SENDS CASE TO LONDON CONSULATE

11/1: Consulate receives case in London AND sends out Packet 3.

11/6: Sent Packet 3 to Consulate (we'd downloaded the forms on VJ and had them completed already)

11/22: Appointment for Medical.

2008:

01/08: Interview scheduled for 10 a.m. APPROVED!!!

02/01/08: Stephen comes to America!!!
