hello everyone!

i'm getting married very soon here in my country. i'm hoping we can qualify for DCF or some kind of expedited visa before we have to go to his next base (hopefully, in the US) :)

Wish us luck!

What a fantastic forum!

My husband and I met in 2006 before he signed the dotted line. After meeting in 2009 we knew that was it for us. In 2010 we got married after lots of trips back and forth :)

I just got my case completed at NVC for a CR-1 visa. Medical and interview to go... then I'm off to Hawaii :luv:

We're going to Hawaii too :) Hopefully we can get this visa work sorted out before the first big PCS!! Maybe I'll see you in Hawaii one day, and then we can celebrate that the visa stress is over (for now) ;)

We're getting married in about 2 weeks here in Manila! I'm currently up to my neck busy with preparations. Haha! :)

Our current issue is figuring out the best way for me to join him where he is deployed! Tourist visa before SOFA? Getting a military ID before tourist?? Ah! So many confusing details!

Aaahhh ... OPSEC ... always a soldier. I just noticed that you asked about a tourist visa v. SOFA. I thought that if you're command sponsored, you're automatically in SOFA status and do not need a tourist visa. Have you sorted that bit out yet?

You don't need to be command sponsored to get a SOFA status. SOFA status is given by the country. Sponsorship is given by the command.

And yes, we've finally sorted this out :) Thanks! :star:

hi ladies,

my husband and I are in the process of applying for the I130. We are submitting a copy of

- marriage cert

- husband's passport

-my passport details page (not sure if necessary)

- a compilation of photos from wedding solemnization and reception, photos with family and friends from his and my side of the world

- a short essay explaining about our relationship - how we met (should this be long? Anyone has a template I can use)

- a timeline of important dates in our relationship - meetings, visits to each other's country, important dates ie engagement&wedding

- some of our flight itinerary details

- wedding invitation card

- passport stamps in both our passports of our visits to see each other

- hotel receipts during visits

Do you think this is sufficient?

Do i need more evidence?

Are the NVC going to ask for all the originals we're including in the initial petition to the USCIS? Or it wont be necessary to send all in at NVC stage?

I'm in Malaysia while my husband is in the US. I'd have to send everything to him, that's going to take a bit of time.

Thanks, everyone!

Copies to USCIS. You should check in at the Malaysian forum to see if there is any additional/special requirements for you. You'll be able to get country specific advice because it does vary. Best of luck.
