just want to ask something guys, about AOS..

My husband might be deployed overseas this June, and before he leaves we're going to file my AOS First. He will be back by November '09 anyway.

Do you think I will have any trouble in my biometrics and interview for that AOS because my husband is currently working overseas?

thanks in advanced!

=Ana=

Hi Ana,

Your husband does not need to be there with you get your biometrics done. It is no big deal, you will see. You just walk in, have your prints and picture taken and that is it. You will not have an interview on that day.

Interview itself: CIS told me that, when the US spouse is deployed at time of interview, the applicant can come in and have the interview by herself. Make sure you have a copy of his deployment orders and take those along.

If you feel anxious about all this, you can also talk to JAG or ACS at your husband's base. Sometimes they have people who are up to speed on the AOS procedure, and they might be able to review your documents with you, so you are more comfortable before going to the interview. In our case, they are also in contact with the local field office here, which might be handy, just in case a problem pops up.

I've been told, so let's see. D:

Apparently, I can still get my military ID even though I'm in Canada. I'm thinking about calling around to the consulates and then to the embassy to find out. I just don't want to...go all the way to Ottawa. It's kind of stupid. >_< Military blahh.

Wow! I just found this thread! Just dropping by to say hello! I am currently waiting for my interview date for the K-1 visa. Once we are married I will become a military spouse. My fiance is active duty Staff Seargeant in the AF currently stationed at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. We will be living in the Omaha metro area. His previous duty station was the freezing tundra of North Dakota, LOL. Anyone here near Nebraska?

I don't know about the time frame for expediting a K-1, as you cannot expedite the NVC portion (Correct me if i'm wrong!)

But I do know you can expedite the USCIS part of the process!

Have all your paperwork ready for the rest of your journey ASAP

You can also involve your congressman and/or senator to help you with your case.

GOOD LUCK! :)
