We tried that and we rung the military helpline and they said we weren't eligable, even though Tom is technicaly 'deployed'. We thought we weren't anyway but it doesn't hurt to try.

Did you just call and ask them or did you actually file for an expedite either through mail or via fax? Just wondering...

He called the number, he gave them his situation and asked if he was eligable for a expedite. They told him no.

Just so you know I called USCIS to check on the status of our case and the immigration officer I talked to told me they didn't accept expedites even if someone's in the military and deployed. My husband called from Iraq 15 minutes later and turns out our case was already at NVC!

So don't take that no too seriously. We didn't even send a letter from his CO or anything. Just a copy of his orders and his military ID. The expedite apparently got approved the same day as did our I-130!

I did take the no seriously as I had an idea we wouldn't be eligable and it turns out we weren't. Congrats on yours though.

So he's not in the military?

Yes he is military. He is in the US Air Force.

<snip>

id like to add: that my case was also expedited on the NVC stage so i end up paying the IV fee in USEM manila during my interview..

Okay we're getting our case expedited with NVC too and they just told me I wouldn't have to send them any documents or pay the fee bills because they would just forward our case right away to the US Embassy here in Denmark. Does that sound right? Did you send anything to NVC?

yes thats it, you dont have to send or pay at NVC you can submit everything at your embassy like I-864, DS-230 and pay IV fee there during your interview..

im so happy that things are going fast for you :)

Not even the DS-3032? I'm so impressed!

i did send them my ds-3032 in mail and email :bonk::rofl: , and after that they forwarded my papers to the Embassy and schedule me an interview last Jan. 9 but i reschedule it because i wasnt ready yet...

Not all active military are eligable for an expedite. Being in Bahrain for a year he was not classed as being on a deployment, instead it was seen just like a permanent post like being in Japan or the UK.

He returns in two weeks anyway.

That is great!

And yes, if the last updated date changes, your case has been "touched".

Have a good weekend.

Hello all!

My husband and I applied to have our I-130 expedited.

Our case has been touched 4 times in the past week (see timeline).. What could all those touches mean???

We're really confused as everytime either of us calls the USCIS military helpline, they are at a loss to tell us what anything means.. :bonk:

We haven't received anything in the mail or any email notification except for the one saying we had applied for a military expedite.

What do you think??

hey there... its a good sign when it is touched.... it means they re checking it and all that.... if the husband is on deployment for 6 months is it enough to get an expedite?

Hi,

I hope you folks don't mind a somewhat off-topic question.

Does anyone here know the average processing time for claiming a dependent? My husband filed for a disability pension increase last December claiming me as a dependent. When he called theV VA to follow up, a guy there just said they were backlogged and wouldn't give a date. So perhaps someone who's done the same thing would have an idea?

hey ladies... how are you doing?

i know its still early for me since we re still waiting for the NOA2 but since my hubby is on deployment and it takes forever for the mail to get there and vice versa, can I print the affidavit of support and tell him to sign it and send it to me from now or that will be too early? i am thinking of being the Choice of Agent since mail takes forever to get to them... what do you people think? anyone with previous experience please share....

Thanks and good luck to all!!!

Nothing wrong with signing it early IMHO. The only thing is if his income data changes between now and the actual time for filing the I-864.

i can also print it and he signs it and mail it to me and the i fill in the data afterwards... will that be ok? i doubt how come the income will change by then.... hes military so its stable for this year....
