That's cool :) what area are you interested in?

And immigration law is a complicated one, unfortunately you can't just go to community college and say "I want to be an immigration lawyer" :( lol!! I wish.. its 4 years to get your bachelor's degree in whatever you choose and then 3 or so at law school and unfortunately most of what you learn over that period is nothing immigration related haha I'm looking at about a 10 year timeline to get certified to do what I want but I'm studying to become a paralegal in the meantime lol so busy busy busy :)

Cool! Do you plan to work as a paralegal while studying? :)

I'm in medicine. Will definitely consider a non-medical path if needed for our relationship. Military life is not an ordinary married life :luv:

Haha! This thread is becoming an extension of our mini-thread!

I need info on that aspect ASAP. I intend to be a fully functioning adult when we get to the US... with a job, no matter how entry-level it is. I feel like such a bum right now!

You're not wrong about this thread being dead!

Still waiting for ROC and have an infopass for tomorrow. Wish me luck. Doing paralegal studies in the mean time. Hoping that along with my Accounting, it will lead to something eventually. I've also thought about the medical transcription. My husband's been pushing me that way for a while now. He knows plenty of spouses who do that because it's so mobile. I'll see.

OUR JOURNEY SO FAR: (dd/mm/yyyy)

18/09/09 - CR1 NOA1

16/07/10 - POE LAX (256 days NOA1 to interview)

27/09/10 - Aussie/American bun in the oven due May 10, 2011

06/01/11 - Submitted change of address online to USCIS. Mailed I-865 for sponsor. Neverending!

05/05/11 - Bouncing baby boy arrives

10/07/12 - Sent I-751

13/07/12 - I-751 NOA1

Oh, this is a good topic :)

Well, I'm a German chick who lives in the UK with a husband stationed in the UK with the US Air Force.

We've been married for a little over 4 years and have a daughter.

Is there anyone of you with their spouses at RAF Lakenheath/ Mildenhall?

IR1/CR1 Visa - DCF at London Embassy

April 16, 2013: Mailed out I-130

April 18, 2013: Date Petition filed
May 13, 2013: APPROVED!
May 22, 2013: Case Number received
June 3, 2013: Mailed out DS-230 & DS-2001

Since 2014 I am a permanent resident.

Hi there,

I am a military wife too and i have some questions too.

I met my husband online while he was deployed in Iraq in 2011.After he came from the deployment he bought me a ticket and came in TX to be with him( i am from Romania), i came with a tourist visa and the plane ticket was a round trip and i was suppose to leave US in June 2012 but the air company that i came with, does no longer exists and we were suppose to buy a new ticket but i found out that i am pregnant so we decided to get married and have the baby here and to try to do my paperwork.

We got married on December 10th, he enrolled me in Deers and at the beginning they gave me a military ID available for 3 months with full medical insurance and after 3 months we had to renew it but because i didn't have SSN( we didn't have money for that) they gave me a new ID available for 4 years but without full medical insurance.

In March we had our baby and after a week he had to go to Korea for a year,i wished i could of join him but because i dont have paperwork i live in TX with our baby boy.

My question is how can i get my paperwork, can i apply for a SSN and a work permit before my green card because we cant afford to pay for the GC and i was thinking if i can do that so i can find something to work and this way we can save some money for it.

Please if u can give me some advices or tips i will be very grateful
