I've never stayed abroad anywhere for more than 3 month meaning I've always had a roundtrip ticket to see my family. Are there possibly any women living abroad in MENA countries at this moment? For more than 3 - 6 months? Did you go by One way or roundtrip and let the date pass or what? I'm looking to go abroad with a 1 way ticket because I want to come back to USA only when my spouse comes with me. Is that realistic speaking? Laws have changed from 3 years ago the K3 used to take 3 months and now it takes 9 months!! I'm currently waiting at the NVC with a I130 there (8 months)and they just recently RFE'd me for the I-1129F (k3) but they aren't updating anything and my husband was in the hospital for 4 days bc he's so worried about the visa and worried if my dad will allow me to stay there for a while with him and skip a semester of school or 2. Is a 1 way ticket possible to go there? And is it possible for my dad to purchase a 1 way ticket in USA to bring me back to USA? I know it will be very expensive for us if I purchase a ticket abroad to come back to USA :help: too many questions but if anyone can answer :help:

Sarah,

The only reason you might need a round trip ticket is if you do not have permission (from the Algerian point of view) to stay in Algeria indefinitely. Assuming you have dual citizenship, this would not be a problem. The first time I went there I had to get a round trip ticket becuase my visa was only for three months. But, once I had my Algerian residency, there was no problem entering the country without a return ticket. Price is another consideration. Often, for reasons I have never understood, a round trip ticket is less than a one way. In that case, you buy the rt and just ditch the return. Keep in mind that it may be cheaper to buy your ALG to US tickets in Algeria. Soemtimes it is and sometimes it isn't. So, just be sure to shop around.

Salaam Sarah,

I agree with jpaula. Shop around for prices as long as you don't specifically need to return in three months (because of residency laws or Algerian entry requirements, etc...) Most often when i've lived abroad i would buy a roundtrip ticket because it was the same price or sometime cheaper than a one way... and i would not use the return trip, if need be. But you can get lucky... sometimes you can find a cheap one-way, or sometimes you can find a cheap roundtrip ticket with a small penalty if you change the return for a later date.

Sorry to hear about your hubbie being sick!

Good luck, (F)

Maybe I was just irresponsible, but I bought one way tickets to Mexico & to Egypt and stayed in both places with no problems. No one ever asked me about my ticket or any permissions (entering or leaving Mexico & entering Egpyt).

*shrug*

I made the decision to come here without a return ticket and to wait with my husband.... it has been one year and almost 4 months....

USCIS should just make it easier on everybody as soon as they get petitions do the background checks etc etc etc check the proof, interviews and keep it under 3 months and just hand out visas. People have school, careers, kids, family etc.. USCIS sucks  can't wait to finish with those 7aram maliks in what 8 years?!?! I hope my husband gets better also  thank you goodluck to yu also

Yeah I think I will be ok taking a one way ticket , but Monnik do you know if its possible for somebody here in USA one of my family members to purchase a 1 way from Algeria back to USA>? The reason is because arab people fight way too much over who is paying for what so its between my husband and family and they want to try to purchase the ticket from USA before he can spend his little dinars !

Thanks JPaula, If im waiting with my husband to come back to usa together probably just get a one way going so we dont waste money and then get 2 one ways back to USA.

I don't see what would be wrong with a one way. I doubt they'll ask to see proof of a return ticket. If your visa is for only 3 months (or whatever set amount of time) you can take a short flight somewhere else for a day or two and return to renew your visa. My friend is currently living in Kuwait and does that every so often (and she also had a one way ticket To Kuwait when she moved there)

Also your dad can buy your ticket anytime when you want to return. Just tell him to get it online then email you the eticket and you can print it out in Algeria!

Good luck!

::There’s a laugh in my eyes::

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth

A few things to keep in mind. First, I would not rely on an eticket to get you out of Algeria. It has been a year since I last flew out of ALG, but I would not trust that they know what to do with an eticket. Get a paper ticket. Also, it may be a bit of a pain, but it could save you money if you just buy a rt and then pay the fee to change the return date. Even if you have to change the date several times it may wind up being cheaper than buying two one ways. So, when you are shopping for tickets be sure to ask what the fee is to change it. And, for what it is worth, I don't know who you like to fly with, but I always found the Air France office in Algiers (downtown, not at the airport) to be really helpful. They also are one of the few places to take credit cards and can issue you a apper ticket for any ticket you have purchased on line.

Esalaam

I live in Alger; so maybe I can help you. I have been here for the most part for the last 2 years. Visiting the USA occasionally but mostly in Alger.

I have in the first visits bought round trip tickets but the last few times I just bought one way from a site call Best Travel.com PM me if you cannot find it. Yes; it is possible for you buy only one way then later have father buy back a ticket. Just make sure your visa does not expire. And yourself registered at the embassy and local police. If you tell where you are going I can give you much more info.

Tickets vary by season; if you go now::: it is off season until May when the prices sky rocket; until Sept 15 then go down again. Expensive to buy ticket from Alger to the USA, but still cheaper; then buying round trip then lenghten it via the airline::: 200 USD per month.

I have always flown Lufthansa, very good service on time comfortable and more affordable then Air France.

Your petition could take anywhere from 2 months to more then year a*if you see the stats.

if you have any other question email me? Good Luck

Sara I would like to add after rereading your post; that living in Algerie is NOT the same as when you visit. And I would like to ask you to fully think this throu. I know for myself being with my husband has made our marriage all the stronger; but being here in Algerie I have suffered so much. Everything from depression, problems with the neighbours; and the big one JEALOUSY;;; plz beware of that if you come. And it all depends on also where your husband lives and your relation with his family. I have a good relation with the family but not with my neighbours. But good news is large community of foreigners if you need support. I am here :::for time being. I could get you in contact. Have fun;;;
