We are starting to doubt that Luz's problems the other day were caused by the cleaning products, at least entirely. Last night I got a call from Robin asking me to come home because Luz was feeling dizzy again. I got home to find her in bed and so weak that she could barely talk. When asked to tell me how many fingers I was holding up she missed it half the time. I did check her for signs of stroke,( an even smile, the ability to squeeze with both hands equally, the pupils reacting the same) and that seemed fine. She was just weak, slow to react and dizzy. I was about to haul her off to the hospital again when she started coming around. After about an hour she was back to normal. Luz has a huge aversion to doctors. It usually takes an argument to get her to go. She steadfastly refuses to go and insists that she will be OK.

Something has crossed my mind as a possible reason for her problems. The doctor had changed her hormone pills the day before her first "episode". While she was in the hospital she stopped taking all her meds (at the order of the hospital). She went back to them again yesterday and within an hour after taking her hormone pill she had her problem again. I googled the pill (prometrium 200mg) and it does list dizziness as one of the side effects but it mentioned nothing of the magnitude that Luz went through on Sunday.

We are at a loss here as to what is going on. The doctors at the hospital said that every test they did came back normal. Luz is in no mood to subject herself to what will no doubt be a massive battery of tests if we go to the doctors again over this. If there is another episode we will have no choice of course but I was wondering if any of you might have a thought.

She eats about the same as she always has and I doubt that her bowflex exercises are excessive. She just follows the plan that came with it.

Gary, I know Luz doesn't want to go back to have more tests, but a doctor is the ONLY person fit to diagnose her. If she is still feeling unwell then I recommend a trip to your local doctor's surgery. She can discuss the possibilities of it being her hormone pills and maybe change them to something else.

The thought of ending back up in hospital is scary, I know. But the thought of her collapsing again is ever scarier. PLEASE go back to the docs. (L)

Could she be having an alergic reaction to the medication? I would definnitely consult her doctor ASAP.

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!

Oh my gosh....Gary, you have GOT to get her back to the doctor who put her on the hormone pill right away! Call him up right now! She needs to be monitored regularly. Oh my...why is so afraid of doctors? Please tell her to do it for her son as well as you. It is not something to ignore. (F)

Gary, HRT pills may be the reason. Have her use progesterone cream instead and have her rub it on her neck. My guess is she is having side effects from those pills.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Do u have insurance? I know with my blue cross/blue shield, has a 1-800 # one can call and talk to a live Nurse or Dr! But since she is having these spells, its best you promptly go see a Dr NOW! And ensure they know what medications she is on, or was on, including over the counter meds and herbal!! Best to go soon, before it is too late

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Mags couldn't have said it better...It's probably the meds and definitely nothing too serious since all the test came back normal, but she needs to go at least for peace of mind. Tell her to do it for Robin and yourself so you guys stop worrying, if she doesn't want to do it for her, the guilt trip usually works with I-hate-docs people.

Oh my Gary - this is sad stuff. I'm no doctor, but I concur with Mags: drag that girl to the clinic, pronto. She's too lovely to be sick

You guys are in our prayers; us dealing with illness as well. I get you my man, the feelings of powerlessness are a b1tch. Please keep us posted.

Thank you all. She is so stubborn about going back to the doctor. I fear a major fight will occur if I insist. I am calling her GP that prescribed the pills and will ask him to change them to what she was on before. If she has one more episode like last night I will take her even if I have to tie her down to do it. She is a real sweetheart but she is also as stubborn as the come.
