Very interesting. We just got back from our InfoPass appointment for Carina's AOS status and were pretty much told the check is still pending. Then we get home and there is a letter from Chicago USCIS where we had sent a status inquiry letter on 2/1/2006. Anyway, the letter is nice, but pretty much says the same thing as what is indicated in the link above. I was going to post our letter but since it says pretty much the same info it would just be redundant.

Again, nice of them to let us know that they don't know when she'll get her card but there has got to be a better way.

Next month once the case is outside their "normal processing time" since Carina filed in December 2004 I send a letter to the USCIS Ombudsman and also call the misinformation letter and request a referral.

I am not giving up.

Interesting!.. if not a little scary "some cases legitimately take months or even several years to resolve."

Excellent information. I think the USCIS should put more information on their web site. It makes this all easier if you understand about the process. Now if we could get them to update their info on the New Orleans office I would be happy. For some reason New Orleans is a dark secret for the USCIS.

Nice info but says nothing really informative.

I think USCIS uses this 'checkup' as an excuse for everything they screw up with. Mine has basically been pending for 7 months and I am really sure I have never done anything wrong, either here or anywhere.

They are probably late, not doing their work, have lost our papers, or all of these combined. When we ask about the status of our application, they come up with this bulls@it.

So they can smile at our faces and say nothing, be accountable for nothing.

I almost can't stand it anymore.

I wish at this point I could just give them the finger and go home.

My heart goes out to those stuck in this morass on a name check. The link definitely helps give preliminary information on what's going on, but it doesn't offer any idea on how to resolve it.

26 January 2005 - Entered US as visitor from Canada.
16 May 2005 - Assembled health package, W2s.
27 June 2005 - Sent package off to Chicago lockbox.
28 June 2005 - Package received at Chicago lockbox.
11 July 2005 - RFE: cheques inappropriately placed.
18 July 2005 - NOA 1: I-485, I-131, I-765 received!
19 July 2005 - NOA 1: I-130 received!
24 August 2005 - Biometrics appointment (Naperville, IL).
25 August 2005 - AOS touched.
29 August 2005 - AP, EAD, I-485 touched.
