Hi if this topic has been covered before im sorry, im having trouble finding anything on this site thats answers my question. so here goes.

i'll start with our story,

i met my fiance on the 24th of august o7 where i work. im a barmaid in a small kent town hotel and he was staying there as a guest after two days of persistence and a sort of kick by my sister he won me over and we spent a lovely sunday togther getting to know each other properly. this was the 26th august 07 and i see it as the first day of our relationship.

he was leaving early the next morning to spend a day and nite in london before he flew bk home to the US on tuesday. unfortuantly i could go not with him up to london to spend an extra day with him but he was so keen that he found some way of emailing me when he was in london. after that we spoke on the net every night, well night to me with the 8 hour time difference, on internet messenger and video links over the net and we have done this ever since.

as soon as i could get time off and the money saved to go, i went to visit him in LA. i spent two lovely weeks with him between oct 21st 07 and nov 4th 07. unfortuantly work couldnt let me have much more off :crying: .

the next time i got to see my man, face to face was the 17th of jan this year when he came over and stayed with me till the 31st jan.

it was on the 26th of jan that he offically proposed  on our 5 month aniversary. (L)

now im saving up to see him next and living of the hours each nite i get to speak to him on the net.

we are currently looking into what we have to do and what options are open to us so not filled yet. in our quest for answers its been suggested to us that due to the nature of our relationship i.e. we've only known and been together a short period of time. we should expect a lot more questions and well the general gist i got was we might get a harder time as they will be more suspissious of our relationship. need the loo whilst waiting

has anyone else filled after being with their so for such a short time? did you have any problems?

Hannah.

hi,

i dont really know the answer to that but i can tell u what i was told when i was worried about the age difference between me and my finance:

Both parties have to be old enough to marry or have consent for marriage...

Both parties have to be legally free to marry........

You have to have met each other at least ONCE in the last two years......

as far as i know those are the requirements to apply for finance visa........

Im sure that there are a lot of people that know a lot more than i do but i guess another question i would ask myself is how long does it really take to fall in love?????

some say one look some say time i guess it depends on the two of u :)

thanks for the reply it helps,

(L) we love each other truley and have no doubts about that and i'm of the opinion that there are no definitve rules on love, and how long it takes to happen or why!

my wobbler came over cos of a sugestion that while we dont need to have an atourny as we could easily do it our selves it mght help with this as they might come up with an unobvious solution. more questions i can handle, i love talking about me and my beau , hell i expect suspition as well as its thier job but that bit of advice made me start to wonder what i was missing and if it would cause more than just extra answers? and i want to get this right.

England to US seems to be a pretty trouble-free situation, normally. Not many people get an attorney for the K1...the process isn't that difficult, and an attorney will not in any way speed it up for you. From what I've seen, they sometimes make it worse/take longer.

I filled out all of the paperwork when Mags was here for her first visit. It took a couple of hours. It was easier than filing taxes.

Bring proof of ties to England. ie: rental agreement, letter from work...something that shows that you intend to return.

Some people have been turned back, but very few from what I've seen. Since the UK is a Visa Waiver country, it's no big deal coming over to visit, usually. Like I said, just make sure you have proof that you intend to return. A round-trip ticket is a must. Goes without saying, you would think, but a couple of people have posted that they only had a one way ticket and couldn't understand why they were suspicious in customs. lol

thanks. well its a given i would have a return ticket its cheaper! :D and i think i could get my employer to write a letter for me confirming im due back to work at a certain date, unfortunatly  as even at a grand ol age of well 25 im bk living with my parents since graduation as i had very little money after and as i dont earn very much at the mo and still have a honking overdraft to pay off they dont ask me to contribute to their rent. im extreamly lucky i know. so im worried i wont have enough to prove that will return?

As it's been said before, don't worry about being questioned regarding the length of your relationship. The petition is based on having met within 2 years and being free to marry, not having known each other for a certain amount of time.

Should the petition be approved, when you go for an interview, then you may have to demonstrate the legitimacy of the relationship.

As for the travelling to the US while a K-1 is pending, make sure you have plenty of evidence. If you're not confident with what you have (and keep in mind that the border control officer can reject you no matter what evidence you have with you) don't travel. Have him come here instead, there will be no problems with that.

Same here. We had been chatting for 4 or 5 months and 4 days into the trip he asked me to marry him. I knew as soon as I met him that he was the 'one'. Sounds naive, but I'm old enough to know a good thing when I see it. I don't envisage any problems at interview on that score either.
