I live in Kentucky, but was born and raised in California.

It still gets under my skin sometimes when I hear things like "we aint got no.." or "its over 'er" instead of over THere. Im quite used to "y'all"... lol I've been here 10 years now!

I was telling him about the way most ppl talk here.... he thinks "ya'll" is hilarious and loves to tease me saying hes going to start saying ya'll and aint all the time.. LOL

Man...nah, I kind of love all the southern twang and culture and everything. Around the bottom of the Blue Ridge mountains and bluegrass and all that is just an extension of Iain's Scottish culture anyway. He heard somewhere once that actually, the southern accent is closer to what "true English" USED to sound like than today's british accents are. Anyway, no, love rocking chairs and baking pies and talking slow and all that stuff

One time we took my fiance tubing on a river and stopped at a gas station for fries when we left. Some yuppy-ish Northerners were in there and it's kind of a backwoods town where you just...spot people and look at them like 'not from around here'. ...The guy had never seen boiled peanuts before and asked the cashier if you're supposed to eat the shell and all

hahaha, I'd never seen boiled peanuts (either) before I moved to Florida.

One of my co-workers loves to tell the joke - What's the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee?

I heard a different but similar joke in FL :

They are goooooood!!! We always stopped to get the spicy jalapeno ones. Its essentially a huge pot with spices (or none!) with peanuts in their shells. You buy a bag, peel & eat! The peanuts are just tender and flavorful. Before I moved south a girl in my office brought some back from AL. We all looked at her cross-eyed as none of us had heard of it either, now I am a big fan!

Ohhhhhhh. Well now that seems really appealing. I think I may actually stop and get some while we're out today, then. Thank you, LaL.

I always thought the Canadian Snowbirds drove down. I haven't heard anyone down here say anything like that..... yet. In fact, every person I've met down here have told me how much they love Canada and the Canadians, and describe their trips. Maybe it's only the people who have never travelled beyond their county line.

While I don't have a scandinavian accent I still find some sound combinations tricky to pronounce. And my melody is off sometimes, especially when I'm nervous. So if you heard me you could probably tell I'm not american, but you couldn't say where I was from

I'm the non-USC and I don't always notice Jeremy's accent - as soon as he comes here though he sounds really American and then even moreso when he is speaking to his friends/family on the phone - being surrounded by Brits just makes him sound more American

To me he just sounds like him - it isn't an accent so much now as his voice - he sounds like Jeremy just like my mum sounds like my mum and my friends sound like themselves. Every now and then I do kinda pick up on it though and it is weird because I just don't think of him as being from another country or having a "funny" accent - we're just who we are

My baby has the sexiest accent I've ever heard but she thinks she sounds like Tarzan. I don't know how to express to her that when she says certain words I get all tingly. She just says I'm crazy.
