What gets me though is the fight is supposed to be "post-rapture" and for some reason, I don't think I'm going to just "disappear" when the trumpet sounds.

I have a cousin that believes in the rapture and end of days #######. She'll get to talking about it, and I'll just stare in disbelief. I mean hey, it's great mythology, but I find it amazing that normally rational people fall for that stuff.

Either way though, what's the use of surviving the apocalypse if there's no more pie?

I find it amazing that people have bought into religion for thousands of years.

Is it possible that through technology, we could become so "educated" as humans that we disbelieve everything to the point that common knowledge becomes doubted?

Well, I think we've been there for quite some time, and it didn't even need modern technology. The vast majority of people on this planet believe in a book (bible, Koran, etc) about all kinds of crazy and bizarre stuff that would otherwise be the stuff of a pretty trippy Dungeons & Dragons campaign. These same people will look at you like you are nuts if you try to get them to explain how a loving and caring God insists you should kill your children as punishment or set a fair price when you sell your daughter into slavery. (My fanatical cousin will explain that this is simply "Old Testament" stuff, and yet I notice that not a lot of people have torn that particular book out of their bibles.) They'll accuse atheists of being immoral and using a lack of belief as an excuse to do wrong things, and then turn right around and justify their "original sin" as the reason for their own moral failings.

I don't think common knowledge has been very common for several thousand years at the very least.
