Hi all,

I am just sitting at home with my daughter, just waiting that my SO finishes work in another 3 hours so I can talk to him and see him on cam.....by then it will be almost 11.00 pm for me and i have to be up at 6 pm gmt to get to work. We first submitted petition in April 07...it was never received and were asked to wait till September to resubmit when we called CSC in case it was found :-d

We ended up with NOA1 dated 10/15 which is not that bad currently ....but at time i feel so low ...my SO helps a lots ...we speak daily even a few times a day but i just don't want to end up to have to be treated for depression before medical:( i just feel so low right now ...I was treated for depression 3 years ago...I am working in mental health and can prove that I have no probems now ( letter from doctor and friends) but can that be a problem if i have to go to see my doctor again for depression ?

Sorry only venting and much not make much sense

Sweetie,

Depression is more common than people think - doctors at the medical would pay more attention to whether you are a danger to yourself and others --- which I'm sure you are not. The letter from your doctor is useful, even more so if she/he states that this is temporary and due to the pressures of the immigration process. My 2 cents: do not volunteer information. - which is not the same as telling lies.

you'll be fine dear friend!

I know how you feel....

this time of your life is very stressful and uncertain. It drove me crazy for a while that I wasn't able to plan my life ahead.

First you don't know when NOA2 will come, then you don't know if your medical will be good enough for the US, then you don't know when your interview date will be and last but not least you don't know what the embassy will think of the validity of your relationship....a lot of unknown factors, and this is hard to cope with.

But it will get easier once you can see some results. All I know is that making plans is the best medicine. Start making arrangements for your move to the US ( I suppose you're the beneficiary, right?).

Keep yourself busy and shoo away all negative thoughts.....they are pure poison for your love, your life and well-being.

Seriously, I know what I'm talking about as I am the master of negative thoughts and pessimism. But I have learned to deal with them. I guess they'll always stay a part of my personality...but at one point I have decided that I won't allow them to rule my life anymore. Focus on the exciting things life has in hold for you...

I mean, come on: leaving the life you know behind and moving to a different continent and experiencing a whole new lifestyle, what a great adventure that is!

Plus, you'll have all of this with somebody who loves you....isn't that a blessing?

I don't think that your depression issues will be a problem during the medical...I guess they are more concerned about diseases that might be harmful to others.

Be good to yourself, a lot of beautiful things are waiting for you! (F)

Quoted for truth. Get the help you need, no sense in compounding the problem.

There is a box to check on the medical form about history of depression. The OP would have to consider the repercussions of not declaring it. If the OP does want to seek treatment now then a letter from a GP verifying the cause of the depression and that the OP is not a danger to self or others then it should be fine. It's safer to go armed with a letter from a GP if you declare a history of depression also, as I understand it.

This is not a clear-cut area. I have asked questions about this myself as I have a history of depression. The majority verdict is to be honest but go prepared with evidence from a doctor. I am uncertain what the repercussions might be if you leave the box unchecked.
