Successful AOS interview

I would like to share with you our interview yesterday at a local office in Jacksonville, FL. The interview lasted only 15 minutes.

At this local office, the security guard will let us in to the building when it is 15 minutes before our appointment time, regardless of how early we arrive at the center.

It was 9:10 a.m. when we got called for the interview. The IO was female and very nice. She asked us some questions without directing them to me or my husband in particular, so we helped each other with the answers. They were the following:

- How long have you been married?

- How did you two meet? (she made a comment about us having been together for a long time)

- When did you get engaged?

- How long were you two apart? (I went back to Thailand after finishing school for 2 years before returning on a k-1)

The questions she asked my husband:

-Where were you born?

-How many times did you visit her in Thailand?

The questions she asked me:

- Have you left the country since you got here?

- What is your birth date?

She also went over all the questions listed on the last page of I-864 just to hear me verbally answer "no" to those questions ( any involvement in terrorism, communist party, prostitution, durgs, etc.)

She asked to see only proof of our marriage. I submitted (and she kept all of these on my file):

- Evidence of our joint bank accounts

- Printouts from my husband's company web site showing my name as a beneficiary on his life insurance and 401K, and my name on his health insurance

- 20+ pictures taken on our trips and at Chirstmas with the family

- Printouts of our selected daily emails (while he was at work and I at home) during the past 4 months

She looked through all of the submitted evidence and asked a few questions related to them, such as (to me)'where is this place?,' (to my husband)'Are these your children?'

She said she also had our marriage license (that I submitted with the AOS application), so did not want to see it again. She didn't ask for any proof of my husband's income, either. She asked him, however, to see his passport. For me, she asked to see my original BC in my native language.

In the end, she told us that we were approved and should receive the green card in the mail in 2-3 months. She removed I-94 from my passport, destroyed my EAD card since I'd no longer need it, and put a I-551 stamp on my passort as a temporary green card, which is valid for one year.

That's just about what happened at our interview. It was 9:25 when we left the center.

Thank you, everyone for your congrats. They are greatly appreciated.

I am still in cloud nine and so very thankful to the Lord for this long but unevenful journey from our I-129f petition to the consulate and then to the AOS. We have been so blessed...
