Background check asked during interview!

Hi everyone,

We had our interview for our K1 visa, on Jan 30, 2008, in the AIT(US Consulate) in Taiwan.

During the interview they asked the beneficiary to provide them with additional/missing documents (That's reasonable I think). But they also requested a background check for the beneficiary, due to his major/degree.

Did anyone go through this 'background check' process as well? It's been 3 weeks now. I am a bit concerned. They told me the check takes around 3 weeks, on average. But it can be longer. The embassy can't do much, since the background check is conducted in the US.

I read there is a backlog on the Federal level for background checks on applicants for green-card and citizenship, due to budget. Do you think this has affected the process?

Thoughts please.... >_________________<

Thanks,

W&P
