Egypt to witness total lunar eclipse Thursday

In my region I get to see it tonight starting at 6pm if the sky is clear and it brings a special treat as well.

The planet Saturn (magnitude +0.2) and the bright bluish star Regulus (magnitude +1.4) will form a broad triangle with the moon's ruddy disk.

Careful watchers will notice the moon changing its position with respect to the star and planet as it moves eastward through Earth's shadow.

Saturn's position will also depend somewhat on your location. Seen from North America, the great ringed planet will be 3.5 degrees above and to the left of the moon's center at midtotality. At the same moment, Regulus will sit just 2.8 degrees above and to the right of the moon.

My 60 something yr. old astrologer friend re-did the zodic with the discovery of the new planets a couple years back and they calculated that today is the first day of the Age of Aquarius. It's not 2060 or 2100 as some have predicted based on ancient records. I think that's totally awesome and it's on a day of a total lunar eclipse!

CAIRO, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- A total eclipse of the moon will be viewed in Egypt and some other Arab countries on Thursday dawn, Egypt's MENA news agency reported on Wednesday.

The eclipse is expected to last 50 minutes and will be witnessed clearly in the northern parts of Africa, Europe, Atlantic Ocean and most parts of Northern and Southern Americas, Salah Mohamed Mahmoud, chairman of Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics was quoted as saying.

It will be the first lunar eclipse in 2008, after which a partial eclipse is expected to take place in Egypt on Aug. 16, Mahmoud added.

Earlier, U.S. space agency NASA forecasted on Tuesday that residents of the Americas, Europe and Africa will have the best view of a total lunar eclipse in the late night hours of Feb. 20,

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth lines up directly between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow over the moon's surface.

I wonder if a lot of looney's will come out like they do during the full moon. I know I feel more depressed than usual lately so maybe that's got something to do with it.

It's amazing! I love it! I feel this amazing feeling lately. I don't know how to describe it all to you but it's amazing, positive, joyful, happy, innocent, almost like love sweet love! I feel like I'm changing! I wonder if it has anything to do with the lunar eclipse and the age of Aquarius stuff? Or it could be good things like I am working the Jazz festival and I'm being inducted into the National Honor Society. I got the letter today! They're having a ceremony and everything on March 19th!

I couldn't convince my husband to wake up at 5 am and take me onto the roof to see it. I thought he might just be giddy enough about the visa that he would do it for me, but .... I missed it !!!
